He's not Local, is he Edward?

Put it this way...Imagine a normal country village, populated by the most incompetent people for their position, who just want you to stay...forever...because no-one ever leaves.

It makes Blink seem almost peaceful.
Oh sweet christ I remember seeing a few episodes of this on Comedy Central years back... that village needs to be firebombed and sealed off from the rest of the world.

Paradise lost was pretty awesome, as was dantes inferno

out of modern depictions though, I thought the hellraiser series had some good ideas

Like in part 2, where franks hell was visarges of writhing orgasmic women he could never touch, just eternally live amoung. As punishment for his insatiable lust.

Then part 5 did it really well, with Joseph having to live in a place of constant torment about the innocence he lost, with all the people he betrayed comming back to haunt him

Just skip to 7:40 for the explanation, but the whole "you create your own hell" is a really good idea.

On that basis, even though its not technically hell, Silent Hill 2 creates a really potent "personal hell"

I must say that this picture was pretty convincing...

Probably Constantine's version.

Listening to a screechy System of a Down song while being forced to watch Beowulf and play Soul Caliber Legends at the same time. While eating stuff from White Castle.

Truly, this is the 12th level of hell.

Or it could be an annoying douche bag who sticks grapes in his nose and constantly shouts "Bloopity, Bloopity, Bloopity".

I know I'm probably on my own here but I thought the film, yes the film of Constantine gave a good representation of hell.
Nope, I'm with you on that.

I was unsure of mentioning it as well, so thanks for doing it for me.

Hell is going to be fuckin awesome! Because the only people who aren't going there are some douches from anno 0 - 1600.. ever since then everyone, christians as heathens, have been violating the bible. I myself am proud to be heathen, and why the hell would i wanna go to heaven to walk amongst preachers who were dead a thousand years ago, when i have the opportunity to hang out with jimi hendrix, LaVey, my viking ancestors, and all my friends?

I like Dante's Inferno and The Divine Comedy's idea that there is a seperate part of hell for different kinds of sinners.

There's an interesting story I heard a short time ago about hell that I thought was pretty cool:

There is a man whose favorite leisure activity was gambling. He didn't have a problem or anything, but as often as he could he would head to a casino and have fun playing the games. He had fun when he won, and he didn't feel bad if he lost.

One day, he pulls out of his driveway and gets creamed by a bus and killed instantly. He wakes up and finds himself in a casino that is cooler than any others he has ever been to. The decorations are beautiful, the drinks are delicious, and he starts out with enough chips to play any game he wants. Blackjack was always his favorite game, so he hits the blackjack tables, and he wins every single hand! He figures that he has gone to heaven, and does a little dance of joy! His chip pile enlarged, he decides to go try the poker tables. The other players are friendly and the drinks keep on coming, and like at the blackjack table he wins every time! He decides to be pious and says a little thank you prayer for being allowed to hang out in such a wonderful place.

However, as time goes by, he finds out that he really does win every time. Every single game, every single try. Even if he tries to lose, he still ends up winning. Every time he does blackjack, poker, slot machines, or keno, he wins the jackpot. Eventually he starts feeling very depressed--he always found it fun to win, but it doesn't really seem to mean a whole lot now. He goes to the bartender and tells him "I don't understand it! I'm here in heaven, but already I'm feeling miserable. What's going on?"

The bartender answers: "You're not in heaven. You're in hell."

He never loses for the entire rest of eternity.

Wasn't that an episode of 'Twilight Zone'? It certainly has the feel of an old Twilight Zone.
