I'm surprised I'm the first to go with Ursula (The Little Mermaid).
She's a powerful, scheming, slimy, lying, slutty, ambitious octopus-wench, and she was only stopped by an entire ship harpooning her.
She gets a pretty awesome song too. Not the best! But a damn good one.

I was going to vote Ursula too. On top of all that she's also the only one to ally herself with henchmen that accomplish every task they have to, plus she genuinely cares for them. If it wasn't for the whole scheming evilly thing she'd be the character I'd want to win. Ah hell, she still is, she's to charismatic for me to want to see her die at all.

My idea of a great villain is one that I can relate to, and especially one that I can really see where they're coming from and agree with it... but.. all disney villains (from memory) are just too cartoonishly evil. So throwing my usual expectations away I'd say Scar from The Lion King.

I assume you mean the oogie boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas? (if not ignore my next statement) But I'm fairly sure Nightmare Before Christmas never ended up being a Disney film. It was going to be but they deemed it too scary for their usual audience (paraphrasing it's been a while since I read this)

But I've been wrong before so take my statement for what it's worth. ^_^

I'd say Maleficent. Mostly due to her role in KH.
I like Oogie Boogie best though:D

This song is made of pure awesomeness and if you don't like it you shall die a slow and painful death.

I say Professor Ratigan.

Voiced by Vincent Price himself and animated to mimic the body language displayed by Price as he delivered the dialogue, Ratigan was Price's own favourite among all the villains, murderers, madmen and questionable characters he played!

I vote Hades for coolness, Scar for efficiency and the Horned King for sheer terror value.

Oh, I almost forgot Rattigan. For me he's a very interesting mix of things I really like in villains.

Jafar from Aladdin is my personal favourite. I just like the way he acted.

Oh, how could I forget Yzma? Not only is she hilarious, she was voiced by Eartha motherfuckin' Kitt. I love her.

Mother Gothel is still at the top of my list, though.

A 4 way tie between Dr. Facilier, Scar, Jafar, and Hades. Dr. Facilier because I love the voodoo in it, Scar because of his desire to crush everything and everyone, Jafar for his desire for power, and Hades because, come on. It's Hades.

Hades hands down, never have I been able to rewatch a disney film so many times due to a single character.

Scar, without a shadow of a doubt. Partially because I love the Lion King, and partially because he's just plain awesome.

Same lol they're all great but James Woods really stands out in Hercules, it's a great film anyway but Hades takes over any scene he's in.
