Ending to wild arms was one of the most satisfying endings I ever played in a game, lasting more then 10 mins if i recall, gives full closure to the story whilst recapping previous events through artwork set to nice music from the game, really allows you to reflect on the experience you've had.

My friends and I were talking about this the other day. The games we came up with were:

LoZ: The Ocarina of Time
Half Life 2
Mass Effect
Portal 2

For fuck's sake, people, use spoiler tags.
OT: Both Portal games, Solitaire, Mega Man Battle Network 3 (shut up, that game was awesome), and World in Conflict is decent. Oh, and I almost forgot, for such a bland franchise, the ending of Halo Reach is without exaggeration one of the best ever.

Persona 3:
You die to save your friends. It's a very different view of death than what you usually get in games. Rather than going out in a blaze of glory or dying in battle, you just kind of fade away on Aigis's lap while she says goodbye.

A lot of people say that ending depressed them, which I don't quite get. The ending is triumphant. You win, there just isn't any life left in you. Your friends will keep on going. Aigis will keep on going. It's all because you helped them out. If I was in the protagonist's place (and in this kind of game, I was), I would be okay with this outcome. After all, memento mori.

Then there's the song:
Which I will admit is kind of sad when you follow the lyrics. Still triumphant, I think. The song seems to clarify the subtext of Aigis's conversation at the very end of the game.

I can't get over quite how good this one is.

There's also Portal 2:
You shoot the MOON, GLaDOS plays you out with an opera, you get your cube back and all is well. +the credits song.

I especially liked how GLaDOS seems to have grown attached to Chell despite acting resentful all the time. She doesn't let you go because you're hard to kill, she lets you go because she doesn't actually hate you and understands that you want to leave.

Shadow Hearts Covenant

Supposedly, it has both a good and a bad ending, but it really makes you wonder which is which...

Legend of Legaia

There's a pretty big mix of tragedy and happiness in the ending. I doubt many people played this game, but I for one really liked it, and the ending really stuck with me.

The Darkness

Just like everything else in the game, it was dark and enjoyable.

Killzone 2

Yeah, not something you would expect, huh? But I liked it, everything goes to hell, you fuck up the final mission and the ending is just the protagonist sitting on those giant steps, with nothing to do but await their demise. It had a certain sense of drama and I found it refreshing compared to so many other titles of the same genre.

...And then they had to fuck it up with the sequel. Not only do they survive, they launch an entire "against-all-odds" campaign and win the whole damn thing. I mean, damn! They even manage to

nuke the entire Helghan planet!

Final Fantasy X

Bittersweet doesn't even begin to describe it. Unless you play the sequel, but I prefer to see FFX as a stand alone game, it makes the ending more powerful.

Dragon Age: Origins IF
Your character dies. Very powerful ending

Neverwinter Nights 2, Mask of the Betrayer
Any except "Freedom". "Sacrifice", "Redemption" and "Destruction" are all great endings.

Well, I have to say the best ending to both Persona 3 and 4 were awesome. Extremely sad, but really well done.
For those who do not know, and want it to be spoiled, at the end of Persona 3 you sacrifice yourself to save the world... except you don't actually die until a month later, in the arms of Aigis. In the true ending of Persona 4, you beat the real big bad on your last day in Inaba. Even though you beat the monster and saved the world, you still have to leave. I must say, I cried at both of them, but I will never forget the ending to either one.
Use the [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] tags (y'know, without the spaces).

Not singling you out or anything, but they're there for a reason.

Fear Effect.

Just before the final battle with the big bad the two surviving lead characters get into a mexican stand off and you have to choose who will shoot first, killing the other. That's on normal difficulty. On hard mode you get a third option that allows both of them to survive, and also resurrects the other playable character who was killed earlier in the game. If you like the characters, as I did, it's a very rewarding ending.

Portal 2
The end boss was awesome, you shoot a portal to the MOON, turrets sing to you, Glados does another song, you see the outside world and get your companion cube back, and I really liked the bit in space with Wheatley and the Space core.
