I'll second Ardennes Assault for Company of Heroes 2. It blows the base game's campaign out of the goddamn water, not just with more fun scenario missions, but so many little mechanics which just make the Americans so much more fun to play.

Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhall might not have been perfect, but it still provided a satisfying conclusion to one of my favourite rpg of all time so I hold it highly for that.

My first nomination is one of (IIRC) the first ever expansion packs: the Scourge of Armagon Mission Pack for the original Quake. Great new features and excellent level design. The second mission pack, made by different devs, wasn't nearly as good.

I was also a big fan of The Core Contingency expansion for Total Annihilation. Krogoths!

Battlefield - Secret Weapons of WW2
Battlefield 2 - Special Ops (I think that was the title)
Civilization IV - Beyond the Sword
Fallout NV - Old World Blues (more a DLC than expansion pack but I really enjoyed it)

I guess Guild Wars would be my main game for expansions.
Especially since I bought all of them, and I'm not even into MMOs ... Well, apart from Guild Wars that is, it made me and my best friend close. :D

Apart from that.
Fallout 3: Point Lookout/Fallout New Vegas: Old World Blues.
They gave us great new playgrounds, weapons, and story. I just hope Fallout 4 can do the same, except more!

This should be everyone's answer.
Hands down this!

No other expansion in my mind has ever come close to giving me the amount of fun that Shivering Isles did. Heck no other Bethesda game has been better in my mind.

While I didn't think it was better than the core game it is still the best expansion to any game I have ever seen, with more content than some full AAA titles have.

Majesty: the northern expansion. Did not add as many new missions as in the original Fantasy Kingdom Sim, but therandom challenge generator was just about the only good, no, great one I've ever seen. TONS of replay value.

tie between Brood Wars, Frozen Throne, and Rush Hour. Clocked > 1000 hours on each.

Shivering Isles for Oblivion, Point Lookout for Fallout 3, Old World Blues for Fallout New:Vegas.

Out of those three the Shivering Isles was the absolute best of the bunch. It introduced a new and absolutely huge area of the game to play in, with a whole host of interesting locations, quests, and items. I loved it.

And who could forget:

The most content? I thought the title said the "best" not the "most".

Sorry, i guess everyone that really played WC3 or D2 will say LoD/TfT. Even though i spent alot of time in LoD (10k hours maybe?) nothing beats TfT, because TFT gave us DotA.
And i played an idiotic amount of DotA back in the days.

Brood Wars was amazing. Doubling the campaign size. New units. Great story. Best one I can think of.

Best non-MMO? Maybe Enemy Within. Or Throne of Bhaal. Or the Diablo 2 one. Or...or...there's been a lot, really.

Worst might be Old World Blues. Fuck everything about that expansion. Every. Last. Thing.
That's almost shocking to me. I think OWB is one of the best expansions for any game ever. Any. Game. Ever! I'd ask what you didn't like about it but you left easy to follow clues in your post!

If we are differentiating expansion pack from dlc then I will definitely say Opposing Force for Half-Life. Added so much and was just so great. I honestly like it more than Half Life 2

I made a thread back in the day castigating it and going into detail about all the things I hated. Haven't been able to find it though.

I'm gunna have to say Reaper of Souls for Diablo 3. I mean, there are plenty of great expansions for great games I could name but D3 went from an almost unplayable mess with a bunch of horribly implemented stupid features to a game I've happily sunken hours into. So I figure it's the one expansion I own that made the biggest improvement to the base game.
