One was in the mass effect 3 online I got into a much with a bunch of american guy's and we spent the next five hours chating and insulting each other with sterotypes

another was in assassins creed brotherhood Same sort of thing I think I ended up playing with the same team of players for over nine hours it turned from us winning and losing to us you winning while having laughs and tons of fun

another was in need for speed -something something the one with the cops- same sort of deal bunch of cool people spending time mocking and having fun '

what are your stand out moments ?

In LittleBigPlanet 2, I had an intelligent discussion about what kind of anime/manga I liked with a 14 year old boy.

That's the latest instance I could think of.

I also remember having a really good time with a bunch of people in the Left 4 Dead games.

I had some good times in Red Dead Redemption when people felt like cooperating; I even stole a stagecoach for my erstwhile companions, we just cruised around clearing out all the hideouts, think we did all of them in both America and Mexico, it was pleasing.

Also, we did this without communicating, for some reason I liked that it remained wordless.

Pre-release Ultima Online. Charter edition week. Everyone was role-playing their ass off. Everyone was articulate and friendly. It was brilliant. Maybe the best time I've ever had gaming.

Then it hit wide release, and 5,000 guys names Satan flooded the servers, player killing and tea bagging the corpses.

In the worst game comunities i said Fighting game comunity . In the best i will say the fighting game comunity . If you show actuall dedication and a willfullness to learn , these guys are very helpful and friendly . If on the other hand you just wanted to dick around and not put any effort , these guys will shun you like the plague . And that's how it's supposed to be .

Runescape pre- 2007/8. Some people were unfriendly back then, but the majority of people would be happy to start conversations with random people, or help others out, even giving them free items.

Also met a couple of people who were quite friendly while playing guitar hero world tour back in 2010.

I think i also might have come across a couple of friendly people when playing gunster and also gunz back in 2006, but it's a little difficult to remember now.

Back in 2006/7 it was much easier to come across friendlier people on almost every online game in my opinion, now it seems to be much rarer that you'll come across friendly people.

Oh, also, i met a group of like 4 friendly people when playing APB back when it was still being hosted by realtime worlds, although that was when it had only just come out. Pretty quickly that community went to hell and it just got terrible.

I remember the online community for the Serious Sam games was pretty awesome around the time when the first two games came out. The voice actor who played Sam was a regular poster there too, and he always had something entertaining to say. And being one of the active forum members actually got my forum handle in the "thank you" section of the credits of Serious Sam: The Second Encounter.

Most of my good memories have been times when I was new to a game, and I grouped up with experienced players who helped me out. I remember this from WoW, Lotro and Eve Online. Eve has a reputation for being a cesspit of anger and abuse, and that is true to some extent. But the thing to keep in mind is that a game with 50K concurrent users has all types of players.

In Lotro I also have many fond moments of joining random groups and sticking together for group content for a whole evening. Much friendliness has occured in that game.

I've sometimes meddled in Wurm Online, strictly at the newbie stage, preferring to mostly wander and explore. One day I was close to a small settlement when a hungry spider attacked me. On those occasions players can shout "help" in the local chat, in which case NPC guards will sometimes come to assistance. No guards arrived but a friendly player rushed to my assistance and tried to kill the spider. Close to death he had to run, but he had done enough damage that I could finish the spider off. I did of course share whatever bandages and foodstuffs I had, and thanked him for the assistance.

Old MMOs and small MMOs are usually the most friendly in my experience.

Dark Age of Camelot.

Had some great times in that game.

Scouting in the lakes, it was always the same group of us. Fun times.

Battlefield 2 on PC.

Had a small group of friends on there clowning around on vehicles as a team, tearing across the maps capping flags and generally dominating, occasionally stopping off for some greifing of snipers.

Ahh, those were the days...

edit: Where the shit has my avatar gone? :-(

Back when I actually played Perfect World, I was running about doing whatever, when a random person ran up and told me that I was using the wrong weapon. At first I was like, who actually cares sir, and he left. About 10 minutes later he came back - with a brand new weapon, which he gave to me for free. It was quite a powerful one too. It was a strangely moving moment. Another time a random invited me to their clan thing, and when I entered their group chat everyone was amazingly friendly.

I had an amazing superhero group in City of Heroes. We all just added random people and then proceeded to complete some difficult missions together. Those were awesome times.

Back when Runescape was still a thing, another random person helped me complete a quest I was completely stuck on, and we then proceeded to play through the next few together.

On Uncharted 2 I have a great team that I play with every so often, in which we win almost every match while text chatting. Good times all around.

I also finally got to "meet" one of my SSX rivals in Borderlands 2, and he gave me two orange level 50 guns and a shield for free. Apparently he appreciates my beating all his records.

Say what you will, but there's some really awesome people behind those controllers.

I had a great time with the community on Rainbow Six Vegas 2. The people never started screaming in my mic, we were all buddy-buddy, and they wouldn't spam my inbox with racist comments because people would think my GT says "Mexican" when it doesn't. I honestly can't think of any other shooter that I had such a pleasant time on.

I met some of the coolest people ever in Assassin's Creed Revelations online. That series, in my experience, tends to attract more friendly people than other online games.

Also this. I distinctly remember somebody walking up to me one December, trading me 10,000 gold for free, and then walking away typing "Merry Christmas!". Made my day. :D

Once when I was playing World of Warcraft I killed a dude 3 times in World PVP and we ended up becoming friends. It's funny after that we recognized each other but we always tried to kill each other. Had to get on an ault to talk to him though.

Probably Natural Selection 2. There's a lot to this game, and you can't get anywhere without teamwork. Fortunately, the players are really helpful! I had a commander last night that played so well and showed so much tactical precision (calling out each person on his team by name, giving us all specific orders, being so aware of the battlefield that he could usually warn us of enemies coming out of vents or around corners before we even saw them) that I actually felt LOYAL to this guy by the end of it. Best team-based game I've ever played!

Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer....on the demo before the shit hit the fan and most of the game was just full of people who migrated from Gears of War. It was nice to really mingle and participate with fellow Mass Effect fans.

And The Bioware Boards again, before Mass Effect 3 came out. Things seemed pretty nice over there, now it's just fowl.

Pretty easily TF2. Numerous good times were had. The best is when a whole team gets talking and creating unique strategies or tricks. I also love those little moments where you meet up with an enemy and mutually decide not to attack each other for a while.
