Long story short, I inherited a PC and have little money to purchase games with, so what is the best freeware titles you can come up with.

Click over to that search bar thingy, type Freeware, and let your joys be discovered.

Oh, and DWARF FORTRESS. That is all.

In my opinion, the best one is S.T.A.C.K.E.R. I don't have a link for you (sorry, my bad). It is basically Tetris with mixed with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (RPG elements and setting).

Gunbound is a very fucking good free (mostly) game, it's like Worms but you customize your avatar with different clothes bought from money you earn in-game, they give you different stats to improve your characters strength, speed etc. You can also pick your own mobile from which you attack, with each one varying a lot from the others. Search it on YouTube, it is fun as fuck.

Another good one is GunZ, it's an online TPS where you can run up/along walls, use katanas, duel wield guns, wear overcoats and generally be a badass.

MU Online is good if you like RPG's, it takes ages to level but I found it to be quite fun for the time I played it. One thing I did love was being able to go AFK and open up a small stall in which other players can browse the items you're selling, with prices of items you decide. I could go watch a film and make money. I wish Guild Wars had this feature.. :|

The only other one I can think of at this minute is Crossfire, my brother plays it with his mates occasionally because it's like CSS, only fun. Imagine that.

Maybe I should have just given him this. [http://tinyurl.com/njkogc]

But then I don't get the warm fuzzies from helping. :D

Gang Garrison 2 kicks rear.

There are loads of freeware games based on the Quake 1 engine, so if that appeals to you, there you go. I suck horribly at those sorts of games.

Mechwarrior 4 is supposed to be coming out for free I think. Definitely a bit dated but as far as giant robot games go, this is the only one in town. Last check of The Internet said that it was supposed to be released sometime around the American Thanksgiving.

Most Roguelikes on this list are free. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Roguelike]

The only problem of roguelikes is that they're so difficult that you could play for years and never even get close to finishing, but that's what's great about roguelikes.

Spelunky (Difficult rouguelike platformer)
Iji (Uhmm look it up I can't really explain it in a sentence)
Eversion ( A solid puzzle platformer with a "twist")
Go get all of those, they are all awesome.

There's a lot of Free2Play MMOs out there right now, and usually the games are 100% playable without having to buy "special items that cost real money" from their shops. You could try Maple Story, or Dungeon Runners. There are a lot more out there so you can take your pick :)

A couple non-freeware games first:
World of Goo is an amazing game that is really very good. Osmos is a cheap game that is available for 2$ for the next few hours, and is really quite good. Plus, it's 2%
And-
Combat Arms. Free online FPS action that is pretty good. As long as you have decent internet.

Go on Rockstar's website, you can get the original 2 GTA games for free. You have to put in some details, but I put in fake ones.
