Best Game Ending

I just finished playing guitar hero 3 and it, no pun intended, rocked

Originally i thought "oh, i finished the game, alright, cool" the point is i was less than enthusiastic. Sure i beat the devil and saved my soul but like so many other games ive played, i didnt FEEl like i had (granted the final song was a killer but nevermind). Then the credits roll and suddenly i think "hang on, this is actualy pretty neat". There was my newly crowned rock god standing atop an awe-inspiring column and, as the credits start to roll, beginning to rock out one last time to a harder song than the aforementioned tune.

The point is that this is the moment i finally felt like i had accomplished a feat worthy of future early set arthiritus and seazed up muscles in my arms. It looked awesome, it felt awesome and ,afterwards, my arms felt they were going to fall off through pure awesomeness (as well as early set arthiritus...)

So has anyone else expirienced an ending of this magnitude, an ending that reached you as a gamer and made you actualy feel something? wether it be accomplishment, saddness, joy or fear it dosnt matter, just so long as you felt it and responded...

I think the ending to the MOVIE that was Final Fantasy X was absolutely beautiful. Of course, saying too much reveals way too much, but let's just say I was bawling like a little girl.

Then they had to completely destroy that with Final Fantasy: Stripper Edition.

Here I go again. Any one of the numerous endings to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. All of them should still be up on YouTube. The cutscenes in that game had great direction, and that's really what put the final cutscene over the top. Be it the one where the Kuei-Jin double-cross you, you stab Prince LaCroix in the neck and the Tremere regent has the sarcophagus locked away, Raiders of the Lost Ark style, or LaCroix actually opens the sarcophagus, loses his mind when he sees Jack's bomb, and then you see Jack and the mummy enjoying a smoke with Caine in Griffith Park.

Brilliant stuff.

I have a sudden urge to get into anime...

But let's see... cool endings? Freaking Starcraft for one! En taro Tassadar! That cinematic was absolutely mind-blowing at the time.

Another? Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhall. Not really because they're particularly great endings, but to get to that point, to bring a character from Baldur's Gate 1 allllll the way to the end of Throne of Bhall takes easily 100+ hours of gameplay. And in the end saying goodbye to all the characters as well as your own npc is a bittersweet thing.

It's also a very nice touch to have all the epilogues at the end, telling the stories of the various companions you had with you after the... final act. It's a very final ending, probably why I like it so much.

I have been here longer than you and I have been coming to the Escapist for half a year now, and only recently made an acount seeing there was more to the site than just watching Zp over and over. (I wasn't being hard on him, but in my 2 weeks of being here I have already seen like eight of these forums)
