Back in the day, when Half-Life mods were literally bursting the very seams of the internet, I wasted countless days and evenings on this fantastic single-player mod based loosely on Apocalypse Now. It was called Heart Of Evil and was thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyable.
Hey, I played that! It really was pretty great.

Used to play a Quake 1 mod called requiem with some friends that we really liked. I just liked the grappling hook really.

Best is probably gmod though, just because.

I mean seriously.

Red Orchestra is a great game, and I've played it sporadically ever since it was a UT2003 mod. I really wish there was a single-player campaign.

I haven't looked at many mods. I have some for halo 3 but my best one was in KOTOR when they gave you really overpowered weapons and darth revans robes. That was my quickest play through ever.

Anyway, my favorite would have to my median XL for Diablo II.
Mine, as well. You probably recognize me if you use Median's forums... my username there is Prometheus.
I think I've seen you on there before, what's your main guy again (rather than clog the topic, add as friend and PM me)?

I really enjoy all those mods that make Oblivion look that much prettier. It still looks better than most games coming out now!
Have you checked out the one that makes the combat more interesting? I think (iirc) it's called deadly reflexes. It adds a whole bunch of nastiness to the combat, critical strikes, instant kills, plus you can decapitate people with your sword. Probably the single most impressive mod I've ever come across.
Yea, it's pretty neat. Still, I never use it because I think the screams they added to NPC's decapitations are just silly. ;P
Oh definitely, I agree with you. But the sheer amount of work that they put into that mod really blew my mind when I first installed it. Modifying artwork to be prettier than stock is never a wasted effort. But actually taking the time to modify the inner workings of the game as much as that mod is a whole different realm of dedication.
Very true. It does bring another level of depth to the combat. Now I just wish I could find a solid run animation mod that doesn't look like you're floating above the ground.
