Hey all, so I'm looking to fill my iPod and I'm sure this topic has come up a million or so times, but I'd like to know what your favourite game soundtrack is and the the title of your fave game-song if you can recall it. Been wandering around the world listening to "Video Games Live" tracks and I'm looking for more.

**Bonus points if the music makes you feel like a badass.

Annnnnnnd begin.

Any song from chrono trigger makes me orgasm in nostalgia and awesomeness. I'd check out corridors of time, and especially the magus battle theme.

My favourite game music keeps changing all the time. Used to be Borderlands music, then Super Meat Boy, and so on.

Currently it's really a contest between this:

And this:

First one's certainly more badass. But I reckon Bastion's gotta win when it comes to my own tastes.

You write youtube= and the end of the Youtube link, just the Letters and Numbers after 'watch?v=' (so 'youtube=GDflVhOpS4E', for example).

Then wrap the whole thing in square brackets and serve cold with a slice of lemon.

This is all WRONG!!!! Just joking, but seriously, you want to feel badass, listen to Stalker: Clear Sky's soundtrack.

My favorite:

Pripyat had some good ones too

Also, The Darkness has some pretty awesome music. Haven't found an mp3 download for it yet, though...

Also, Star Wars Force Commander had the Imperial March Leviathan Remix as it's main title song. I feel old now...

Edit: Oh I forgot one.

Here's a personal favorite from Golden Sun, though it's remixed.

Here's the original one, in case you're wondering. They didn't change much.

I'll put this first as there's a lot to come afterwards and you owe it to yourself to feel the power of the funk.

And everything in Okami. Here's but a smattering:

And the grand finale:

The Witcher, both 1 & 2, had fantastic acoustic soundtracks that really fit the low fantasy setting of the world. I listen to them a couple of times a week.

Touhou. Touhou Touhou Touhou. Also Touhou. Seriously, if there is a situation for which ZUN hasn't made an appropriate piece of music, then I haven't found it yet.

Eternal Shrine Maiden, the very first stage theme for the very first game, Touhou Reiiden ~ Highly Responsive to Prayers
Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome ~ Border of Life, the final boss theme for Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom
Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes, the Stage 1 theme for Touhou Eiyashou ~ Imperishable Night
Cinderella Cage ~ Kagome-Kagome, the Stage 5 theme for Touhou Eiyashou ~ Imperishable Night
The Gensoukyou the Gods Loved, the Stage 3 theme for Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith
Emotional Skyscraper ~ Cosmic Mind, the final boss theme for Touhou Seirensen ~ Undefined Fantastic Object

And that's only some samples, and isn't even considering the legions of people that make a near endless supply of arranges for nearly every single piece in every game. Check out TAM, Morrigan (of WAVE), marasy8, Virus Key, Tutti Sound, Demetori, IRON ATTACK!, and plenty of others, and you will never lack for gorgeous music ever again.

Chrono Cross is easily the best game soundtrack of all time. I hold the soundtrack up to any album ever released, that's how high my opinion of it is. The music just adds so much to the game it's insane. Whenever the 'Are Video Games Art?' debate pops up, Chrono Cross is always my go to.
