Best game of 2010....so far

I like to mark E3 as the mid-point of the year in gaming. I think that now would be a good time to reflect of the best games of 2010 so far. The year hasn't been as good as I hoped it would be although there's still plenty to look forward to.

Out of all the games released so far I'd have to go for the obvious, Red Dead Redemption. It's perfected everything that GTA did so well. The last time I played a game for a straight period of time for that length. Wonderfully immersive, emotionallt impacting and absolutely gorgeous (just look at the skyline).

So what's been your favourite game of the year so far?

Out of the games I've played, Mass Effect 2 would be at the top of my list.

I'm not sure, i'd say Red Dead Redemption. Brilliant game, but Fallout: New Vegas and Fable 3 are looking to over take it for me among other games.

Pokemon Soul Silver. It is one of the deepest RPG's I've ever played, if not the deepest.
Although, it will definitely be replaced by Starcraft 2, if the beta was anything to use as a a benchmark.

I would agree with you, Red Dead Redemption for sure. Mass Effect 2 would be the obvious 2nd choice even though overall I enjoyed it more. As a total package, RDR is simply superior.

Mass Effect 2, hands down.

Sure it's not perfect, but it's easily better than anything else I've played this year.

Final Fantasy XIII - I've been playing for over 96 hours now and I'm still not bored. The game has a great story (that's poorly executed and thus takes time and dedication to get the most out of) an interesting combat system that rewards tactical play and some of the best art in gaming - the graphics, the music, the CGI are all outstanding.

As an overall experience I'd have to say it has been my favourite game of the year, closely followed by Battlefield : Bad Company 2.

I think ME2 and RDR are close at the top, like others have said. I'm gona put ME2 at the top because I spent like 40 odd hours (I think) enthralled in that, from start to finish. RDR I spent the 16 hours or something and got to the end of it, then spend another 20 or so doing all the tit-bits. I could go on in RDR and get all the multiplayer challanges, the last 5 achievements and what not.. but it's sorta passed now. RDR is a good game but I think ME2 had a lot more good main story time to it, RDR's main story wasn't that long or as interesting, as quite a few missions put me at the opposite side of the map constantly so it'd take a while to get the next one.

Probaly Metro 2033. I just don't see what's so good about Mass Effect anymore.

I haven't liked Mass Effect since the first one so that's out.
I hear RDR is great waiting for reasonable PC prices.
New Vegas has about a 99% of getting my GotY

Aliens VS Predator. The multiplayer is just so, so different to nigh on every other FPS around these days, in a good way.
My God, I haven't played much so far this year. Well, that came out THIS year, anyway.

I have got to say...God of War 3. It's not just because it's a good game, but it's because I hated the first God of War, and yet this one made me love the series again(though I'm still never playing the first one ever again).
