Bioshock for sure.

I also love the Fallout 3 opening. It's subtle, and explains the game mechanics in a unique and fun way.

Plus it has Liam Neeson. As your dad. Nuff said.

That is all. (not such a good vid but you get the gist of it.)

Edit: Mystical ninja comes close, I'm a sucker for classic N64 games...
How could I possibly forget OOT?!
Yeah, that. (great atmosphere IMO).

Killer 7 : quite interesting to begin with...getting gradually f*cked up
Fatal Frame 2 : for the still scenery and the intense atmosphere of the Village
Resident Evil 2 : Awesome intro, even for today...
Sanitarium : Not solely the intro movie but also the first sanitarium section

edit: how could I forget!!!
Fallout 2 : A kiss to build a dream on!!!!

I'm gonna say the D-Day sequence in Medal of Honour: Frontline.
This one, along with Medal Of Honour: Rising Sun's opening.
FF X's opening as well. Well, from the start of the Blitzball scene onwards anyway.
Yeah, that part with the whole bit where you run up to fans and go "gee, I, um, play blitzball" was completely unneeded. The opening scene was badass though. Doing a flip and suddenly seeing some massive Cloverfield ************ beating up your city... Or was it just a big wave? I can't remember.
I believe it was Sin.
Sin was just using a cocoon of water for...I not sure what, exactly. And that opening scene springs to mind just for the awesomeness of it and Otherworld. That song is brilliant.

An old game for the NES called Mr. Do! had the best opening. If you don't believe me, look it up.

I thought the origin story of the city elves in Dragon Age: Origins were so dark it blew my mind.

Half-Life.
Perfect opening sequence it just sets the tone of the game flawlessly.
Half Life 2 did a good job too, really captured that dystopian essence.

I'm not saying it's particularly hard to do, but I can play it on drums.

Are you talking about the opening movie, or the first stage of the game?

If movie: Onimusha 3: Demon Siege (both the pre-title screen swordplay AND the demon invasion of modern-day Paris).

If stage: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (both Richter's flashback battle with Dracula from Bloodlines AND Alucard's initial incursion in the castle).

Mass Effect 2.

Joker's god damned stubborn-ness got rid of two of years Shepard's life, though.

*Bathes in awesomeness*

And I wonder if FF XIII opening scene is going to be memorable?
And if we may get told off for derailing at this point?
