My very first preorder (and mailorder) was Metal Gear Solid 1, mostly because i was slightly interested in the game and a free controller was offered when ordering.

The Controller was a cheap piece of shit, Metal Gear Solid was Milestone Gaming Awesomeness

I choose Alan Wake, mainly because the Special Edition was very well put together:

Book Shaped Box
Sountrack
Bonus DVD
Game
Hardcover Novel from Clay Steward, the guy that helps Alan on the first playable game setpiece.

Not bad for a SE :)
Same. I've only preordered a handful of games (although back in the days before pre-orders I used to 'reserve' a copy of games left right and centre :D), but Alan Wake was such a pleasant surprise for me, especially with how well thought out the LCE was.

Gonna be getting the first game I'v ever pre-ordered on friday. MGS:peace walker so I guess I'll go with that. This is mainly due to the fact that I often discover cool games that have been out for a while I think wow thats good I must have it!! e.g. Valkyria Chronicles, F.E.A.R 2

I think the only game I've actually preordered is Dragon Age, which I had a blast with. So, yeah, I'll go with that. :)

Plus, it gave me Shale! Who doesn't love Shale?

I haven't pre-ordered much, but either FFXIII Or GoW3.
Don't really know because I haven't been playing them simultaneously and because FFXIII came out first I started it first, and am only just finishing it, barely played GoW3.
So I'm inclined to say FFXIII

...I would've expected myself to be saying pokemon soul silver here, but it disappointed me...

Probably SoulSilver. It took everything that Silver did right, and upgraded the battling mechanics.

I've never preordered a game, but I got Pokemon Soul Silver on release day and it's pretty awesome. I'm going to be preordering Fallout: New Vegas, and I assume that that game is going to be awesome, so that will probably be the best.

The Wii + Twilight Princess.

That was the last thing that required pre-ordering.

Problem here is that you can pre-order games in Game shops but the Supermarkets are just cheaper. So for Red Dead Redemption's dlc you were paying £10 more in a game shop than you would if you bought from a supermarket. Same with Mario Galaxy 2. Game and Gamestation had a Free Tin. But only if you bought from them at £40. Whereas Asda had the same game for £30 on day of release.

Unless Game stores can start getting competitive with prices with other shops I'll still refuse to pre-order.

I usually don't preorder things because I usually don't know what's coming out. I think Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days was one of my best preorder decisions recently.

I don't preorder games, but the best game I ordered was Persona 3: FES. I can't even tell you how many hours I sank into that game. I had to order it because the videogame stores near where I live wern't going to stock it so I didn't have a choice (grumble, grumble...)
