Hi, everyone.

I recently got my hands on a Playstation 2. I used to have another one back when it came out, but it broke about halfway through the console cycle... But now I am back in the game, and I want to play everything that I missed. I just finished Persona 3: FES and enjoyed it.

Anyways, you folks don't need to know about that. All I was hoping for is that you people could name the best titles (in your opinion) for Playstation 2, so could you do this? Thanks.

Really, Ps2 is in my opinion the best console, its just full of gems.
Apart from what Feeb already said, theres the Yakuza games, FFX...quite a lot of nice fighting games like KOF and DOA2...i dunno... theres quite a lot of what you could choose from.

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
Final Fantasy X
Shadow Hearts 1 and 2
Shadow of the Colossus

EDIT: 'Shadow' and 'Heart' are quite the popular terms, it seems.

For the love of....

Get Drakengard OP, it's kinda a generic hack'n'slash, but it's by far one of my absolute favorite stories in a game ever. Except the last ending, to hell with that boss and the bullshit ending that it gives...

Grand Theft Auto 3 of course. It was truely revolutionary and great for it's time. Today sandbox has become it's own genre, but back then the idea of simply "doing wahtever you feel like" in a game was truely a new experience. (It probably wasn't the first sandbox, but it certainly brought the genre into the mainstream.)

I have never enjoyed a any game that much.

I've been saying for years now that the Jak and Daxter trilogy and the first four Ratchet and Clank games are without a doubt the greatest gems of gaming history, and dammit if no one ever seems to listen. You have no idea how good it is to see Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank as the first two titles on the first response to this thread. Thank you feebstalicious93. You have validated everything I have ever tried to do on this website.
So, yeah. Everything on his list (except GTA and 24) and also throw in Shadow of the Colossus as well. I don't know where you got that machine so late in its lifespan, but long as you get your hands on those games you will never need to upgrade. Current generation graphics be damned.

Grand Theft Auto III / Vice City / San Andreas
God Of War I & II
Kingdom Hearts I & II
Max Payne
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Resident Evil 4
TimeSplitters 1, 2 & Future Perfect

All excellent games I still play to this day (when I get the chance).

Okami is available on the PS2 and is an amazing and underplayed game, with a unique design and a rich, detailed story grounded in actual Japanese Legend.

I'm pretty biased, but Rayman 2 and 3 are decent enough platformers, the former being darker then the latter.

As mentioned, the original trilogy of Rachet and Clank is a laugh and a fairly polished series. I can't speak for futher titles.

Why not get Persona 4 then?

Got both Persona 3 FES and 4 lying around and am waiting for my PS2 (not sure if I should check for a box to hook it to a PC monitor though) that should arrive tomorrow.

Personally, if you like RPGs get Summoner 2. It was by far one of the most enjoyable RPGs I have played so far.

Put it simply, I cannot agree more with you. Enjoyed many MANY hours on the Jak & Daxter 1-3 series. Also the MGS series, but definetly MGS3. My personal favourite game of all time.

All conveniently laid out for me. (I removed ones that I haven't played.)

I'll also add Final Fantasy XII (I liked it), Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance/Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, and the .hackGU (Vol. 1 Rebirth, Vol. 2 Reminisce, Vol. 3 Redemption) and Shin Megami Tensei (Devil Summoner 1/2, Digital Devil Saga, Persona 4) games if you're really a fan of JRPGs.

EDIT: Oh damn, how could I forget Okami.

If it's a Fat PS2, hunt down the PS1 Metal Gear Solid, it's... well it's amazing, it doesn't even look too bad.

Also Metal Gear 3, probably the best of the entire series.

Other than that:
Jak 'n' Daxter series was a belter and the three Prince of Persia game are brilliant as well.

Zone of the Enders

That game nearly made me cry it was so beautiful.
The only bad part? The dialogue just screams "This game originated in Japan" with their interesting and often confusing sentence structure and choice of words.

As said, the "Jak" and "Ratchet and Clank" series's were awesome. I have probably played through R&C 3 at least 3 times, and Jak 3 at least 4.

Also good: Katamari. So much rolling goodness!

Zone of Enders, one of the first games to really bring Mecha combat to life.

Destroy All Humans, a hilarious take on alien invasion spread throughout the decade.

God of War is a good beat-em-up style game.

Katamari is fun but trippy.
