Even though I currently play The Orange Box more than any other game, I'm gonna have to go with Oblivion. I currently have made (for the console, mind you) over 1,600 saves in the game. It truly saddened me when I passed the 1,337th one without taking a picture of it, but that was a long time ago.

this for me as well. I am still hopelessly addicted to DotA, and I think I spent $30 on the entire thing.

Bushido Blade for the PSX way back in the day. The most realistic sword fighting game I have ever played. Too bad it didn't really form a solid enough fanbase to get into this console generation. Me and my big brother would spend hours dueling each other so in a way that was my family Hallmark moment but with me and my brother hacking at each other with kitanas and cursing " God damn it,you bastard, you took out my legs!" instead of hugs kisses and I love yous.
Good times, good times.

That would be totally l337 man! I think Oblivion could rival Orange Box

$60 + 150+ hours = a pretty damn good deal.

That Ubisoft Steam deal a couple weeks ago was amazing. Ten bucks for four great games: Far Cry, Beyond Good and Evil, Dark Messiah Might and Magic, and IL-2 Sturmovik. I have been trying to get through all of them. Finished BG&E, and am partway through Dark Messiah Might and Magic.
Also, I bought Trials 2 SE for $2.50 during the winter sale. I've been putting hours upon hours into that game. Just a simple little motorcycle game, with physics and simple controls.
And of course, the Orange Box.

I just bought Orange Box today, paid a measly $20 for it and it is no doubt the best twenty dollars I have spent. What is the best gaming purchase you have ever made? A game that you paid very little for and was fantastic? A game you dont think you will ever stop playing?

(On a side note, please go out and get Orange Box, a fantastic bunch of games for only $20!)
Wow, I was coming in here to say how the Orange Box was the best $50 I've spent on gaming.

Free PSP Slim. My buddy had around 4, (How this happened I will never know) and this one had a slightly tempermental control stick, so I got it at no cost. No games, but it had a few...*cough* enhancements, shall we say..that will probably get me banned for mentioning.

Orange Box. I think I have about 400 hours on TF2 now. Love the competitive side to it.

Honourable mention goes to Counterstrike.

Sim City 3000 Unlimited.
Best $40 I may ever have spent.
That disc broke last year, and I can honestly say the hours, love, effort and unrelenting joy I experienced from it, compounded with how it moulded my mind into this thing that can understand systems integrating well, I cannot dictate any figure other than priceless, what that game held for me.
