If you've come to this thread I assume that you enjoy a snack while you're gaming, I do too; there's nothing better than relaxing with a good game while munching on something tasty, it's just a good all-around package of pleasure.

So, what would you say is the best snack to nom while you game? For me, it's anything that fits into the following criteria:

* It has to be non-greasy or I'll just end up rubbing grease on my controller/keyboard.

* It has to have as few crumbs as possible.

* It has to be able to fit in one hand.

This covers quite a decent range of things; sandwiches, fruit, salad vegetables like carrot sticks or celery and Jaffa Cakes. [http://www.jaffacakes.net/images/jaffa-cakes.jpg]

Out of all of those, I prefer a decent sandwich as my snack-of-choice, but if I'm feeling lazy I'll just go for one of the others. So, fellow Escapists, what do you like to nibble while you're gaming?

Those "candy cables", great to eat while gaming, hardly need to take your hands off the controller.

Incase your unsure of what I mean

Beef jerky. I don't get enough of that but when I do it is fantastic.

I also love chocolate covered peanuts for a nice snack, but if I'm going healthy nothing beats broccoli in ranch dressing, cherry tomatoes, or perhaps some carrots.

Certain types of chips are good. I myself have had great success with Goldfish as well as various types of crackers.

Only kind of salt licorice I eat
And if not that I prefer cold chocolate since it usually doesn't give me greasy hands.

And again i'm gonna say: Food you eat with your hands + my controllers = no go.
Softdrinks ftw, either MD or Coke :)

Two words people:

Cheesy Nachos

The end...

What I really eat is usually soft cookies that don't crumble and are easy to eat, although sometimes they break and you end up with a piece lying the 'D' key, then you can't move and you die...
I always knew that food would kill me in the end..

I make my own popcorn (stove, metal bowl, popcorn kernals, oil, popcorn salt i.e. finely powdered - a few minutes in the food processor, then cover with foil and pop). To make it a gaming snack eat with chopsticks, lasts hours that way and you won't eat it by the handfuls. Been doind this all holiday break. And any topping is fine with chopsticks since your not using your hands, butter is the classic, by try spritzing vinegars like malt or balsalmic. also cheeses like cheddar are very nice so is parmesan (freshly grated would be nice).

Coke or chocolate bars are my personal favs... pretty much anything where you don't actually have to touch the food works though. Nothing worse than a greasy controller *shudders*

There's a convenience store literally next door to my house, so that means fountain Pepsi or Mountain Dew and something out of the hot box, either a hot dog or these delightful "BBQ Rib" sandwiches (basically a pressed pork patty and BBQ sauce on bread, like a McRib but available always).

And pizza is always an option if two things are true: Domino's is open and I don't mind monstrous heartburn later.

I know that the SAS eat SPAM and Mars bars to keep gaining protein and energy. Rule the SPAM out because it's pretty disgusting and a gamer needs no protein, as they're not really doing much. Keep the mars bar, and you've got energy which doesn't make a mess, and can be held in one hand. I would also advise a beer, because they're nice.

Gold Fish crackers obviously.

They're tiny, delicious, and they come in cartons now. Have you ever drank your favorite snack? I have.

Plus they're only about 2 calories a fish.
