I Liked the assault rifle sounds from Rainbow six: Vegas 1/2, they made a nice 'crack' when used on single shot

Mayby the l4d2 railgun, it sounds like its doing exactly what it is doing I.E. removeing limbs with bullets the size of your thumb.

The DD44 from Goldeneye still has the best pistol sound effect in any game in my opinion.

Me...I always liked the sound of the MP-7 in Half Life 2.

But if you want "the" best gun sound effects I've ever heard it was in Rambo movies...;P

Unrealistic maybe but the sound effect in those movies skull fucks every other gun sound effects I've ever heard...lol

I've always enjoyed the gunfire in Battlefield Bad Company. I was impressed to see (hear) that the developers took into account the terrain and nearby objects when figuring out what the guns would sound like.

I wasn't too impressed with the sound effects in Modern Warfare 2. I was expecting something of an upgrade to what BC's guns sound like, but they just carried over alot of the old sounds from the first MW. Cheap, but meh. Especially the Barrett. I can't stand how fake that "whump" sounds when it fires.

Bad company has bloody awesome sounds, hell, even BF2:MC (360) has awesomely dynamic sounds, turning up the volume on those games is sooooooo enjoyable

The AR2 in HL2 was great in terms of sound, I think. Also FC2 and Black, as mentioned before. I also like the MG42 PPSH and Wunderwaffle(BZzzZZHHHORK) from WaW

Killing Floor has some great gun firing sounds.

Was going to mention that. Especially the 9mm pistol. The game's fun just for the weapons' sound and feel alone. Shakycam, animations, and the sounds make the experience so damn enjoyable on the very basic level.

Also, BFBC2 has good gun sounds, which are even better with war tapes on.

And +1 for the M1 Garand.

Thinking back to it god FC2 gun sounds were awesome, never played black myself but i can see where the gun porn comes from

Normally the gun sounds in World at War where rather lackluster, but the PPsh-41 had a truly terrifying Brbrbrbrbrbrbrb, and the M1 Garands 'ping' as the clip was ejected was truly epic.

one series that can be relied on to have great gun fx is the Bad Company games, all the guns sound intoxicatingly overpowered.

COD 4: Modern Warfare had great gun sound effects. Failing that, Unreal Tournament or Quake 3. The guns aren't traditional, but the sounds produced when you use them are worth beholding.

My personal favorite is Battlefield as a series. The sounds effects are insanely good and truly give the feel of epic battles that really suck you in.
