My favourite mission in Mass Effect 2 was Grunt's loyalty mission. Awesome planet, awesome characters to interact with, and OH GOD AWESOME RITES OF PASSAGE!

The final test in the rites was just epic.

I was waiting for the Thresher Maw to appear in this game....and now I found it. HE IS MY WHALE, AND THE PARTICLE BEAM IS MY SPEAR! CLOSER GREEGRUNT, THE WHITE WHALE BECKONS ME TO DESTINY!

The number of levels in Mass Effect 2 makes it difficult to select just one.

But if I have to pick one of them all, I will go with
the Collectors ship wreck. Starting the exploration, finding little excerpts of what happened inside (the pile of melt corpses, the empty capsules) then you walk accross the hallway and BAM! The inside of the ship wreck right before your eyes, millions and millions of capsules lining on the walls, all of them ready to store humans
It was in that moment when I realized the scope this game has, which is beyond massive.

The whole game was composed of awesome moment after awesome moment, but I'm going to be boring and repeat that Tali's loyalty mission was awesome, especially when you take the Charm option in the final speech at her trial. I love all the awesome speeches in the game, but that whole level was so good.

I really enjoyed playing SVU detective on Samara's loyalty mission, ***** Morinth got what was comin to her. I also enjoyed Tali's loyalty mission. Not only do you get to see the Migrant fleet but it was also very emotional
As a big Tali fan, I was truly impressed with how great her backstory was done in this game. My favorite's the Migrant Fleet.
--On a side note, you realize what Morinth was, right? Pay attention to how she's described and you'll realize that Morinth was an Asari version of the mythical Succubus. If not for the visit to the Fleet on Tali's loyalty mission, THIS would be my all time favorite level ever.
i have a feeling you explored the fleet a lot, so, is there any shops in there?
I did, and a good thing too because I finally (earlier today) got the REAL speech Shepard yells at the admirals. Anyway, no there aren't any shops that I've seen. The level was really small (but unlike most of the other levels it made sense since it is the "Fleet" we're talking about.

--No shops. It's a shame, because I was SO hoping to buy some Quarian-looking armor to trick out my Shepard. Would be a great DLC idea, and it would be the only suit which makes sense that you can't take off the helmet. *grumble "Damn crappy DLC" grumble*

It was awesome and I got to see what a flotilla looks like.

Personally I loved Thane's recruitment mission. Your just going though the whole thing wondering who is this guy? Why is he helping all these people when he's an assassin? [i/]What[/i] is he? He doesn't disappoint.

THIS! My god, that was such a fucking good mission and SO HARD! I was on those floating platforms for ages. I also love the revelation from that level.

No, Bioshock is on my list of games I would love to play but can't (I suck at FP perspective :-( ) My son has the first one and I am getting him the second one in the next week (getting a shiny new 360 Elite, my old 360 still works beautifully but I want more memory, my Limited edition Halo 360 will be getting a loving new home with my daughter though and my husband will be getting her arcade version, it's like musical chairs with Xbox's :p) I will watch my son play though (he's a crier too, bloody media student ;-) )
Ah... well if it encourages you, take the following into consideration:

Bioshock is super easy because you actually can't die. If you do die you just respawn at the nearest checkpoint and the enemies stay at the health they were at when you died... in otherwords, if a section does prove too hard you can just gradually whittle them down.

Also, it has an easy mode which is very forgiving. It's worth playing through on easy just for the experience of seeing Rapture, believe me!
Oooooh, sounds like my kind of FP game. I am just paranoid in FP that there might be something behind me, as there is no spatial awareness, it feels like tunnel vision. My son does have the first Bioshock, I will have to borrow it and try it out, thanks.
Bear in mind there are some scary bits where people do creep up behind you... but nothing that can't be solved by a shotgun blast to the face!
See, that's why I don't like them, cos IRL someone coming up behind me, I would sort of sense they were there, iygwim? :-O Might watch my son play it first.....

It looks like I'm one of the only people that loved Mordin & Legion's loyalty missions. They're easily my favourite characters so far. They have such a deep morally grey backstory, with Mordin coming to terms with the unseen consequences of his actions, and the Geth coming to terms with the extent of the 'heretic's betreyal.

You should be proud indeed.. I've beaten Gears of War, COD4 and various others on the hardest setting but MAss Effect 2 Insanity scares me silly... there were some parts on Hardcore where I was utterly stuck for a while.
Hint: Play as an Infiltrator. Seems to make things way easier than they should be. Tried it on my second playthrough as a Vanguard... ugh. That didn't go very far. As an infiltrator though, it was possible.

I've been hearing that alright, I'm about a third of the way through now as a Sentinel and it's not too bad, though I'm dreading the collector ship.

I enjoyed Legion's loyalty mission too. The level design was awesome, it had a real retro 80s sci-fi feel to it.

And welcome to the Escapist, may you enjoy your stay!

Possibly the mission to get Thane. I like any of the missions that involve fighting mercs, really.

Actually, I liked every mission. Unless they had scions. Damn scions.
Praetorians are worse.

But I would say either the Thane loyalty mission, or the Legion recruitment mission.

So many husks, so much shockwave.

Plus you get Legion. Legion. That's amazing enough.
Adept spawn-death for the win?

I have to agree with the above post. Using heavy shockwave on a horde of about 12 husks is nothing short of hilarious. AND you get Legion. Nothing more awesome than having a species on your side. You should know what I mean.

Recruiting Thane and Samara (Nothing like killing to make an entrance)
Garrus's recruitment and loyalty (he reminds me of my brother)
The Joker bit (old school sci-fi buff is winsauce)

The entire suicide mission, I have to say kinda capped it all off. The sheer cinematic tension coupled with picking who to do what and spreading out into multiple teams really pulled it toghether

Can't wait for the final installment

Garrus and Thane's recrutiment levels were both brilliant.

The best loyalty mission was probably Samara's.

The suicide mission was well done, although I felt it was too short.
