So Im playing a big conversion mod for Mount And Blade named Prophecy of Pendor. Really fun, fixes the balance with all new army units and factions so that you cant just roll Swadian knights over everything.

There is one faction that in the current version does too well in the long run called the D'Shar, and I dont like fighting nothing but them so this tgame Im just attempting to sabotage them to let other factions florish.

So I started in a faction called the Baccus and almost immediately they attacked the D'Shar and I followed along a marshalls army and in the chaos using the empires troops I managed to capture 3 lords and get like 30k ransom money by somewhere between day 5 and 10, and now Ive bought a bunch of businesses and am rich as hell for so early. Then I helped the Baccus take a D'Shar castle which is in line with my meta goals.

So in light of this, whats your most fortunate early starts to a game?
The D'Shar are my favourites, you monster :( I hope you get ambushed by 5 Scorpion Assassins.

OT: I recently played through Dark Souls for the first time and was lucky enough to get a Black Knight shield off the first one in the game. I ended up using that shield throughout the entire game.
You might be happy to know it doesnt seem to be working...

Aw man Im getting nervous about it, I beame a Baccus Vassal and it seems like D'Shar have overcome my harassment and retook their castle and it didnt seem like we could stop them. I might be doomed haha. Their economy and friendly Singalians slavers are too strong, I should have gone full dishonorable and massacred their peasants and caravans to mess with their economy methinks.

I might get a visit from those assasins soon.

I got him on my first. Wasn't even expecting it. Just thought it was a new area, hear the boss music and I start panicking next thing I know it's dead and I'm drenched in sweat.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die
Managed to acquire a bow back in the Undead Asylum with the first Archer that I killed.

Team Fortress 2
Not really lucky, but quite funny. I was playing as a Medic and was following a Heavy, I think, and we ran into another Heavy & Medic Pair. The Heavies ended up killing each other, which led to me and the enemy Medic duking it out. We both used the same Weapon and managed to kill each other simultaneously at precisely the same moment.

Not really a "start" per say, but my first legendary engram in Destiny dropped an exotic primary gun (Suros Regime). During the era when legendaries were giving you Uncommons more often then legendaries even.

Ironically, after sort of obligatorily using it for an extended period, I eventually found it to be horrible (for the endgame PvE content anyways) and ended up tossing it in the proverbial trash bin.

Civ V as Spain.

Found Lake Victoria on the second turn, that's the only way I managed to beat the game on Deity. (And Marathon)

Also, managed to inherit Byzantium 30 years from the start without meaning to in CK2.

Playing binding of isaac afterbirth I managed to get curse of the labyrinth on the first floor (XL dungeon - two bosses, two treasure rooms)

First treasure room: Toxic shock. Early in game the poison damage you deal on entering a new room basically kills everything except champions, and renders you immune to a lot of the suicide enemies since they just pop immediately.

Second treasure room: Dr. Fetus. You shoot bombs instead of tears, so now I can get every secret and try for most trapdoors. Downside is that I can blow myself to hell pretty easily by accident.

First boss: Pyromaniac. Immune to explosion damage and if I get hit with my own bomb it heals me half a heart. Dr. Fetus' downside is now gone, and given careful play I'm basically immortal. Its still easy to get killed by a harder boss since I can't shoot very fast and the bombs don't explode on contact, but at minimum I can enter every fight at full red hearts and have a risky chance to heal during a fight.

Second boss: Bombs in your bombs. A larger bomb explodes into 3 to 5 tiny bombs that explode with roughly the same damage. I am now a bomb grapeshot cannon. It doesn't even matter that the bombs have an explosion delay because I can just fill the room with bombs that can't hurt me.

People who don't play BOI probably won't get this, but getting Dr. Fetus is hell because its a rad item but so easy to fuck yourself. Pyro doesn't come up often enough, so usually you spend an entire game playing super careful. Even with it you spend the rest of the game praying you don't hit a room with fast enemies before you have mobility or a pile of hearts because some enemies can just juke the bombs faster than they detonate - toxic shock was the only thing that saved me from dying to yellow flies. Bombs in your bombs was the icing on a ridiculous cake. Without doctor fetus or at least a 99 bombs item, this item is basically useless. On your average run you won't get enough bombs to search for secrets, blow up marked rocks and use them for combat, AND and the rewards from a secret room or marked rock outweigh the combat efficacy of bombs so badly that balance of probabilities say you are wasting them trying for kills. Even with Dr. Fetus and Bombs in your Bombs, without pyromaniac you will probably explode and die because of how dangerous 100 tiny bombs zipping around a room is when you aren't immune to self damage.

Basically in the first floor of the game, everything came together and said 'you will beat boss rush and hush on hardmode based on these items alone'. And then I did.

Playing in hc prophecy, port into one of the act 2 normal areas. An elite skele walks up to make. Kill it. It drops a tabula rasa. First character of that league.

A tabula rasa is a 6 linked item with no specific bonus traits.

Imagine starting up diablo 3 and getting to lvl 22 as a Demon hunter, getting a random mob and getting a kridershot with two gem slots. Same thing (at least ofr me with over 16k blood shard spent and no kridershot...)

Hot damn that's good. I found him to be the most frustrating boss in the game. Of course, now I know I could have just skipped him.

I'll add bloodstarved beast from Bloodborne. I beat him in one try. I thought he was an absolute breeze. I later heard that everyone thought he was one of the toughest bosses in the game. He later gave me a hell of a spanking on my second play through.

One that still sticks to my mind after all these years was finding Bladeturner on the second dungeon level in Angband. The best artifact armor, just lying on the floor. Consequently, that run also ended in my first win.

It's probably not even possible in the later versions, I don't think items can get generated that much out of depth anymore.

In the Long Dark on Pleasant Valley, in the signal tower you will always find a lantern, can opener, rifle and box of bullets. As well as a expendition parka, cargo pants and insulated boots (the best clothes that aren't crafted). Plus some assorted food and water. If you can reach this on the first day you're basically set for a much easier rest of the game. It's so much easier I have banned myself from exploiting it.

I guess it isn't lucky if it is always set, but when you don't know what is in there the first time it feels like you have won the lottery.

Very first Overwatch loot box I opened, which I got for free because of the summer games event, had D.Va's Junebug skin.

Considering she's ended up my most played character (nobody worthwhile plays tanks, I guess), that was pretty lucky.

Playing through Final Fantasy X, I found a weapon for Auron with the "No Enemy" ability from some random encounter. Run through the rest of the game with it...

Sure, was a little underpowered by the end, but since most fights, even bosses, can be resolved by "Summon Magus Sisters... I win", it wasn't that bad.
