Yes, "convert" as though the whole fucking world should follow it. Posts like this piss me off. Like said in a previous post, it's as bad as a jehovah witness coming to your door every 5 second and not taking "I don't want to be religious" as an answer. You might not care for it initially but after a while it really grinds you down to hate it with a blood-curdling rage, like me. MLP is a crappy phase in a portion of what I thought was the good side to the internet. It's a cartoon designed for children shown on children's channels; & sure "Spongebob is cool so why can't this?" - because it's lame and not as cool as Monty Python or Gmod Idiot Box on youtube. etc.

It also annoys me when people dislike something they've never tried. but in your GF's case, she has already tried it & now you're trying to force feed it to her.
My girlfriend has never seen the show, that's kind of my point. You might also want to consult this video:

I would probably show her this to get here a little more interested, it may help.

As to which episodes to try after that, I'm not sure. MLP doesn't have a particularly fast pacing in most episodes. I would recommend the "Return of Harmony" episodes, but they're not exactly good representatives for the rest of the show. Great episodes though.

Bridle Gossip comes to mind, probably the one who made me laugh the most. Swarm of the Century is another good episode, though it starts a litte slow.

You know, the one I would recommend is episode 21, Over a Barrel, that's probably my favourite episode. It has good pacing, some great moments and Pinkie Pie breaking the 4th wall.

I watched the show. Kind of liked it, but I loved the first two episodes in season 2. Mainly because I'm a Star trek fan (John De Lancie is an actor that should never be out of work). Though it does sort of play on established character traits so maybe not 100% ideal as a first episode.

Then again there's not much series continuity. Just pick an episode. Like the one where Pinkie Pie goes insane.

Watching it now and I just realized I had forgotten how much I actually like that episode.

I would recommend that you either show her that one, or "Over A Barrel".

And if she thinks Rarity is a ***** after watching "Sonic Rainboom", then show her "Art of the Dress" or "A Dog and a Pony Show"! :p

Alright, there wasn't much to choose from since most people said Episode X of Season X so I'll go with the one linked to me and posted a few times, Sonic Rainbow.

I guess I'll be back in 22:03 to let you know if you've converted someone or not...

Here's the thing... if you go into the show prepared to dislike it, you will dislike it. End of story. Same is true for everything, but especially true for this, because there are very specific reasons that people use to dislike the show. Specifically, the fact that it's for little girls means they will go into the show just looking for a girly scene to hate. They will get one, no matter what episode they choose, and will then proceed to "hate" the show no matter how much of it they watch. This is why "Just try it!" is and will always be an invalid argument.

On another note: Sonic Rain-boom is an awesome episode. Or anything with the Cutie-mark Crusaders.

Ok, I'm not a brony, but since when was it cool to segregate your thread from others? Not cool man. Not cool.

Alright, I'm back after watching "Rainbow Dash"...

and I still don't get what the big deal is. The episode itself wasn't terribly funny (though moments did make me smile). The story and the jokes were terribly predicable (boy, we just got this room cleaned up! I sure hope no one flies in and knocks everything over!). Lastly, I don't think there's ever been a character that I wanted to punch then the one with those butterfly wings.

Granted, I recognize it's a kids show but when MLP fans are making it sound like the second coming of Christ and He brought everyone a magic box that never runs out of Krispy Kreams that don't affect your waistline, it's going to disappoint.

I'm not exactly the target audience but there are plenty of "kids" shows I love. Animaniacs and Powerpuff girls (PPG certainly being a "girly" cartoon) were two I loved growing up. Today, Fairly Odd Parents is one I find chuckle worthy but this just wasn't doing it. Great if you like it and I can feel alright critiquing it now that I've given an episode a shot.

Fair enough. To be honest, I don't even really know why I like the show so much.

Oh, good, for a second there I thougth you were talking about the one with the pink mane ("hair") and yellow coat ("skin"), that has three butterflies on her flank ("...rear end"). If you're talking about the white one... Wait, I love her too...

But in all seriousness, all those ponies have wonderful personalities and you've got to admit the animation was awesome. Yeah, it's kind of predictable (Though I DOUBT you had predicted Fluttershy would have gone full-cheermode on the end) and I can see why you found it not really funny at times, because it's more centered on slapstick comedy and a bit of cuteness involved (So if you're impervious to cuteness, give up.).

However, I DO want to show you one scene and one scene only.

Hey bronies (everyone else, that's your cue to leave), I'm trying to convince my girlfriend that My Little Pony is actually a good show, but she still can't get past the whole "ponies" thing. I was gonna show her the first two episodes since they introduce the characters, but they're pretty slow paced and not that funny; she doesn't really have patience for something she's prepared to dislike. What would be a good episode that's funny, fast paced, and doesn't require any knowledge of old episodes.

I was thinking "Sonic Rainboom" or maybe "Green isn't Your Color", what do you guys think?
Good one. I laughed.
OP: To respond seriously, the first two episodes.
Whichever thread came second, bravo.

Well, the question is only relevant to people who know all the episodes. I'm not trying to segregate, but unless you have something to add other than "This show sucks" or "I don't know this show at all", there's not much reason to post here...
