Uh, it's not fluid but it LOOKS real so....

My vote goes to Rockstar's last two releases: Red Dead Redemption and GTAIV.

Dirt 2!!!

But seriously, as far as FPS games go they're all so very similar. Mirror's Edge maybe?

I just tried Super Meat Boy for the first time on the weekend, and the controls are pretty good once you get used to them, but definitely not intuitive off the bat lol.

Just Cause 2 has a parachute and grappling hook, and that means you fly around like an upside-down spiderman!
I was gonna post Just Cause 2 too. Every time I play a game after playing Just Cause 2 I feel irritated that I can't grapple and parachute myself everywhere. I don't care if it's not a particularly sophisticated engine and ludicrously unrealistic, it's one of the most purely fun I've ever played.

Quake 3 Arena.
Maybe older Quakes, I didn't play them.
Strafejumping, the momentum you carry over from one move into the next, the rocketjumps, everything is just perfect.

If by "best" you mean most realistic, here you go:

wow either i'm horrible, or that game is bad, how do you work that game?
You don't really. It's all about direct muscle control via QW for the thighs, and OP for the calves. It's a ***** to control, but seeing that guy fall on his face is always hilarious. I managed to go 10m once, but that was just plain luck.

Killzone 2/3 have a real...heft...to your movements that a lot of games seem to lack.

haha alright because i tried multitudes of patterns but none of them really worked, i did manage to get the body to do 3/4 of a flip and land on its neck though lol

Lol. Well, that proves it: movement can be deadly. Better just stay on your couch/bed all day long and avoid the hazards associated with simple locomotion :D

No love for Assassin's Creed yet? To me, the sheer feel of the movement is almost the main appeal of those games.

Half-life 2?

The game where objects stutter and glitch around occasionally? (Like a can spazzing out on the floor apparently because of some glitch)

The game where you have to crouch-jump to obtain the best height?

Super Meat Boy and the Thief series get my vote.

Mirror's Edge was fun in the sense that it was different from most of everything i'd played, regarding movement.

Resident Evil 4 and 5. The movement in both games is quite linear, therefore easy for me to control.

in the most ironic and coincidental of ways, last night i have proof of this, i was in a game running full speed and the opposing player was running at me full speed, jumped and his hip ripped my eyebrow clear open and was gushing everywhere

I counter all your arguments with this video. Quake 3 Arena, and Quake 1/2 deserving honorable mention.
