Movie villains. Everyone likes them, even the bad ones, because most of the time they are placed against some stupid hero, who has spent the entire movie getting his ass kicked, and then to magically overcome the complicated plan the villain has made.

But this thread isn't about that, what are the best movie villains you've ever seen? I think that they are:

John "Jigsaw" Kramer, the main antagonist from the Saw movies- Even though the quality of the movies is disputable, the fact that they have one of the best villains ever, isn't. Jigsaw is one of a kind, he's more brilliant than even Hannibal Lecter, and he's also not a murderer. He never directly kills his victims, he never even intends them to die, he just wants them to appreciate their life more. But what was a real selling point for him was, that he never lies. The best example is in Saw II, but if you haven't watched it, I won't spoil it for you.

Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter- You should all know this one, he's the antagonist of the Silence of the Lambs. Again, as John he is really brilliant, and also is physically able, I mean he overcomes two trained police guards, he sprays the one with pepper spray, and bites the other one's face off.

Joker- More specifically, Joker from the Dark Knight. He's a mad man, he's evil, but he wants to prove that everyone else is, too. I liked the two ships thing he did, and he was intending to blow them both up, if Batman hadn't stopped him.

Adrian Veidt- Of course, he was a comic book character, but with the recent Watchmen movie, I think that he qualifies for this list, too. I liked him because he's essentially, a good person. It's arguable that in Watchmen, he saved the future of the Earth, of course he killed the entire population of New York, but the point is he saved the world.

The Joker from the Dark Knight - an excellent choice.

Karl Ruprecht Kroenen from Hellboy - a.k.a. the Clockwork Nazi,
Kroenen was a brilliantly designed villian; from his selection of masks to his arm-blade fighting style. A puppet for Rasputin - his mouth and eyelidless face is perfect for scaring you children.

Hannibal Lector. Yes he is a cannibalistic, yes he is a serial killer, but can you honestly say that you don't like him? Never has a man said the 'oodles' so maliciously. Same for the Joker, Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson variations.

Anton Chigurh - No Country for Old Men
Agent Smith - The Matrix (hes okay in 2+3 and has good lines in those but 1 is his height)
Daniel Plainview - There will be blood (More like anti-hero though)

Haha! Who the hell throws a shoe!?
Anyone who wants to hit Bush.

On-topic, Joke from Dark Knight, definitely. Although it's mostly due to the excellent actor who played him, Heath Ledger.

Alan Rickman is a god of villains, Robin Hood would have been pap if it didn't have him saying:

"Locksley, I'm gonna cut your heart out with a spoon"
Guy: "Why a spoon cousin why not a sword or an...."
"Because it's dull you twit, it'll hurt more!"

Orson Wells as Quinlan in A Touch of evil is another good choice
