Coldplay was fun because I had standing seats, but Roger Water's The Wall was the best experience for me. It's an even better album with visual elements, such as an actual Wall and excerpts of the animations from the Wall film projected onto said wall.

Years ago, when Daft Punk was in Amsterdam for the Alive Tour. It was absolutely amazing. The support acts were a pleasant surprise as well. :D

MtyMx. Basically, a guy who organizes a lot of shows at DIY venues in Brooklyn got together with a few Mexican DIY spaces to set a festival up in Monterrey right after SXSW. Essentially they wanted Mexican kids to be able to see American indie bands they loved (it's practically impossible for even upper-middle class Mexicans to get tourist visas) while giving American kids exposure to Mexican indie bands and letting us see that Mexico is essentially a lot like the US.

So a hundred or two Americans (most from Brooklyn and Austin, ha) and a few hundred Mexicans hanging out and listening to bands for three days at an abandoned drive-in movie theater on a cliff in the middle of a city.

It was pretty amazing. In terms of the "cultural exchange" aspect, yeah, it was a lot like home. Met a ton of cool people who shared a lot of the same values/interests as myself, wandered around the city a bit. My broken Spanish combined with the broken English of a lot of the kids I hung out with made for a lot of experiments in conversation! Essentially "Try to say something in listener's language, otherwise try to say it in words that might have cognates." Because everyone there from both sides of the border came from similar perspectives, I found the people I met had a lot more in common with me and my friends than most Americans I meet.

In terms of the "music festival" aspect... pretty much everything you'd expect. Spent the three days in varying states of inebriation. 32oz beers for equiv of $2 all day. Best tequila I've ever had in my life, which we drank at a table on the field and shared with whoever wanted to hang out. The best and cheapest weed too. Woke up at 11am and partied till 6am every day. Had sex in a tent on a cliff. Danced a lot (which I never do.) Saw a ton of great bands I'd never heard of, and a few that I knew and loved. Made a few great friends. Overall an awesome experience.

I've only ever been to one concert ever and I had fun with it. Lots of laser lights and DJs and I bought an Ice Cream cone. That happened.

That line-up looks hilarious. Why are the majority of the pictures filled with bands standing exactly the same as every other band with the exact same expressions of "eh"?

Meeting Cradle of Filth back in 2003 or so at whatever Ozzfest they were at was my best concert experience. I was depressed at the time too which is probably why I haven't been to a concert since roughly 2007. I strongly dislike the concert experience...

Pinkpop 2008 (wow, is it really that long ago already, feels like last year...) It was my first festival ever and despite there being a couple of things I don't like about the way it was organised, the line-up was incredible. In that weekend I saw, all for the first time: Flogging Molly, Incubus, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Kaiser Chiefs and Rage Against the Machine, among others. Also, it was the time that I discovered the delight that is the Eagles of Death Metal.

I got a chance to see one of my, if not, my all time favorite bands last summer, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Little Dragon opened for them, and they weren't bad. In fact, they actually had a really nice stage show. And their singer was cute.

After they finished their set, it was about a 10 minute wait for the Chilis to come on. It was such an intense wait for me, who has been a fan of theirs ever since Californication.

And then, Chad, Flea and Josh ran out.

I saw a dwarf in a mankini running around with a ukulele serenading people at download 2012. That completed my life.

I just went to see Coheed and Cambria, Between The Buried and Me, and Russian Circles. It was probably my favorite concert experience ever (I try to forget that we were flat out offered a very illegal drug, and remember the happy experiences! XD)

Dragonforce. Supported by Sabaton. And some shitty emo band I had never heard of.

One of the best nights of my life. Being stoned, listening to power metal, smoke and strobe lighting, girlfriend clinging on to me, throwing myself into a moshpit that resembled a very soft medieval melee... It was one of the best nights of my life. Without a doubt.

And it was about 3 years ago now. I really need to get out there.

I would love to get to a real festival (That was just a concert) at some point but I do not even NEARLY have the money.

It's a tie between Sabaton, in 2010, and Deftones, in 2011, both of them in Bucharest.

I figured Sabaton would put on a good show, but I was completely surprised by Deftones. I had very low expectations for the Deftones show, for various reasons, but they were absolutely fantastic.

Oh, Deftones were good? I assume they have finally managed to find a vaguely competent sound engineer, then.
