I listen to Dragonforce almost all the time for workouts (especially The Power Within and Inhuman Rampage).

Though I did have quite a bit of success listening to the Blazblue soundtrack once. You'd be surprised how well "<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM3CY6X3byQ>Queen of Rose" works for running, or "<url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx8G5Zv9Qxk>Motor Head" for machine training.

Here's some classic rock. I think the first two would be good for running. (The lyrics explicitly urge you to run!)

And this should get your motor running:

There's lots of stuff I listen to depending on the exercise I do (well, did, since I had to leave the gym). Lots of Nine Inch Nails during rowing, like this one:

During strength exercises it's usually Daft Punk, like this one, obviously:

During cool downs something like this:

But there's one combo that trumps them all. Running on this song from 1:51 and on:

You can just feel the cape fluttering behind you. It's like you're dashing.

I had been throwing some drum & bass on my mp3 player, and that's really great when you're starting or for something like cardio, but towards the 45 minute mark when I'm just about out of energy and some 160bpm track comes on it often burns me out even quicker. Just listening to it, not even doing any other exercises.

I accidentally got some hard rock in the mix last week and that went surprisingly well. I don't know if it would work long term though, might become one of those puffed-out chest ape-men.

It depends for me. Sometimes I prefer relatively mellow music like Buckethead, Infected Mushroom, etc.

But if I'm mad and working out? I'm cranking Hatebreed, Chimaira, Periphery, Karnivool, For All Eternity, Becoming the Archetype, etc.

I don't always have to be mad though, sometimes it just boils down to how determined I need to be I guess. :D

Wait, Why to work-out and be mad at the same time?

Some really cheesy club classics usually do the trick. Tracks along this kind of line :p

Sabaton is my band of choice when it comes to running, I have found little music that fits my exercise rhythm as their music does.

If it gets you pumped, it works. I think that some genres are better for this, but it really depends on what you like. Some people would say that dubstep would be good for getting you physiologically ready to work out, but seeing as I would rather coax a spider into my urethra than listen to dubstep...
Though I guess it would get me mad.

Since I mentioned it. It might help you to be mad while working out because it allows you to be more aggressive when lifting, distracted from how aching your body is, whatever. According to this article, [http://www.cracked.com/article_18956_5-scientific-reasons-dark-side-will-always-win.html] thinking negative thoughts boosts your endurance. So there's that.

Anyways, back on topic, I don't know that, given the above, I would recommend any of these songs, but here are some of the ones I prefer to listen to:

The Knack - My Sharona [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR2JtsVumFA]
The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEXHeTcxQy4]
Clearwater Creedence Revival - Up Around the Bend [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34P18at0Q7s]
Free - All Right Now [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siMFORx8uO8]
T-Rex - Get It On [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVEhDrJzM8E]

Huh, ok I guess, but I must say when I work-out I am the exact opposite.
As you already saw in a preview post in this thread, I really like to use my imagination, especially when I hearing music. When I listening music it helps me to create a "movie" in my mind I see while I work-out, so I don't feel so exausted after an hour or more.
My way of course how I work-out.

Rock'n Roll, 80's pop/rock, heavy-metal in general and very very very hard black-metal.

Metallica is the one band that works BEST with me.

HOWEVER, what does not work at all when working out (for me), is Rolling Stones (my favorite band though...), R.E.M., big bands and blues in general, Alice Cooper also sometimes fall short of giving me a sports rhythm...
