if you are looking for a new one, then I am assuming you already have some. Which ones so we don't recommend something you already own?

Well, I for one think Sacred 2 is a lot of fun to play with a friend. If you played Gauntlet Dark Legacy back in the day and loved it (and I don't know how it would even be possible to have played that game and not loved it), then you'll probably like Sacred 2. The gameplay is like if you took Gauntlet, fleshed it out with customizable RPG elements, and instead of having levels just made one big open world with lots of different areas.

EDIT: The one thing to note, is that it suffers from the same problem as Dead Rising, that being that the text can only be read well on an HD tv. You can still read it on a normal TV, but it takes a lot of effort. That said, the text is only really important for the backstory most of the time, and I'll be honest, I didn't come to Sacred 2 for the backstories to the various side quests... I just came to have some fun.

What console(s) do you own and what genres are you interested in?
Since we're playing it at his house I'll say consoles. Xbox 360 and a Wii. Just recommend 360 games unless it's really really good on the wii. We're mostly PC gamers but we're looking for a 360 game.

Just name all your recommendations we really don't have many Co-Op games and I can't name them off the top of my head.

I'm not too sure how you can split the price on an Xbox Live Arcade game, but I've played Castle Crashers co-op for dozens and dozens of hours.

Nearly every console FPS has splitscreen, so I won't bother mentioning those.

From XBLA:
'Splosion Man is inexpensive and fun. The game play is shallow and a little easy, though.
Castle Crashers is a short beat-em-up.

Wii:
New Super Mario Bros is a great multiplayer platformer.
