From those which you have played (since I assume most of us don't have the intent to play the game six times).

Anyway, I've played Mage, Human Noble, and City Elf... And I found the latter the best of them.

Few things as badass as killing the entire guard of a castle in a wedding dress. And the fact that the character was raised in a slum gives her/him that impression of an underdog for the rest of the game, which makes it even more awesome to play the cocky and overconfident role.

Dwarf Noble is a great Origin story, the political intrigues and everything.

Everyone knows Dwarves are the best. Noble and Commoner are both interesting. However, just because only the lesser races can be mages, Magi is up there too.

I liked the Noble Human origin, mostly because it became a story about revenge. The Noble Dwarf origin was kind of revenge centered as well, but I still like the human better.

I've only played Human Noble and Mage. Noble was for the sux, but Mage was AWESOME!!! It's never boring, and characters and events that take place in the origin story actually come into play later on in the game.

Screw Bhelen! I would have turned down rulership and gladly recommended him to be king if I was elected, but he had to screw everything up.

Female City Elf is the best.

Basically, guy kidnaps and attempts to rape you, you destroy him and all his flimsy guardmen.

Lots of fun.

Dwarwen commoner, it was so much like that one film with knights and Heath Ledger.
And, dwarves are awesome.
The most hated... definitely the mage's. Soooooo long, and I friggin' hated the fade. Hell, I even used a mod just to *SPOILERZ ARE ALERT!!!!*

Skip it later on. (or at least make it very short)

Elven commoner was funny because, hey, you slaughtered a castle in a wedding dress.

My personal favourite was the Human noble. Lord Howe will pay but my least fav. is the Dwarf noble. You play the entire story thinking thatBalin is the good guy then BAM. Pulls the biggest dick move. It's not bad or anything, it's just the one that made me RAEG.

Oh, it does for most origins. Let's just say that killing smug nobles is that much more satisfying when they've messed with the city elf's home. I fully embraced that, deciding my character has little patience with people who do.

The Human Noble origin is perhaps the most story-centered
(heck, they can even become the king or queen)
but I'd say the rest of the origins can have their own agenda. It's more subtle and passive, but it's there if you wish to pursue it.

Another one for Female City Elf. It was a lot like
1)"YOU WANNA RAPE ME MUTAF***?!?!"
2)*everyone dies by my hand*
3)??????
4)profit (if by profit we mean badassery)

Dwarf noble for me the politics and learning of the dwarf culture was astoundingly entertaining. Also who doesn't want to be a prince of a bunch of underground short people that love their ale.

That's the sign of good story telling. I never understood what made people play humans in fantasy games. That's like choosing accountant for your class.

I played all origins stories, and I thought magi was best. But dwarven commoner came in at a close 2nd.

Exactly! There are few stories that made me so mad at a fictional character! It is well written!

Quite superb story telling in fact. Is it me or is all the Origins trying to mind-fuck with you? Mage - Mouse was the REAL demon. Human - Got a bit Shakespearean there. City elf - You're pretty much the scum of the earth. Dalish - Well, it wasn't, I can't remember.

Well, some people feel more connected to characters of their own species, and in most RPGs, the Elves are long-lived masters-of-everything and Dwarves are also long-lived masters, whereas humans usually have to struggle for everything they want.

(Not the case in Dragon Age)

One of the funniest parts was when Soris rushes into the room as the guards are about to have their way with the main character, with a sword in hand. The guards pretty much laugh at his face and are about to attack him, but instead of fighting he throws the sword past the guards to the player character. She is of course short, skinny and wearing a wedding dress instead of any armor. The guards' reaction?

"Oh shit."

That's genre savvy right there: Facing an unarmored elf chick with a sword in hand ready to fight fully geared soldiers twice her size? Yep, you're screwed.

I liked the City Elf origin the best. By the end I was pumped to kill that guy who raped my best friend's sister and also my fiance and my best friend's fiance.

I was just like "SCREW YOU SHEM!! *SWORDED*"

I ended up going the Human Noble route though, because I wanted a Human Rogue.
