Best Origin in Dragon Age?

Dwarf noble for me the politics and learning of the dwarf culture was astoundingly entertaining. Also who doesn't want to be a prince of a bunch of underground short people that love their ale.

Who doesn't want to become king/queen of the dwarves or leprechauns?

Human noble. You have legitamate reasons for joining the wardens as usual and the plot only thickens during the landsmeet and beyond. I also loved how you learned different things about certain characters in different origins stories. I would have never known the lord was a bastard who stole women to rape and kill, nor would I know what a double crossing little shit Bhelen was (I still put him on the throne unless I'm a dwarf noble because he gives the casteless a better role and strengthen Orzammars ties to the surface).

City Elf female rogue is my "canon" play through and my favorite by far.

I think it's interesting to be personally scarred by humans all of her life - with what happened to her mother and her friends - and then in the end find love with a human, Alistair. It's a nice progression of character, and I also enjoy the traditional tale of a downtrodden nobody rising up to be a glorified somebody.

It's pretty unfortunate the game doesn't let you play around with the elf-human tensions more. At least it's consistent, in the sense that most of the more or less anti-human comments you can make happen near the beginning (before and during Ostagar), which works out assuming you think your character would warm up to humans pretty quickly after beginning to travel with them.

I love the Human Noble Origin, fits perfectly with the kind of characters I make.
It seems to me that few Origin stories get closure, and City Elf gets the most closure by a long shot.

Just curious, what kind of character did you make?

The kind who values truth, honour and loyalty abouve all else, the kind of person to whome the ends do not justify the means. Turned out that is what most Ferelden nobles are like so yay for me.

Commoner dwarf. I get to be a hard ass, gruff dwarf (as they should be), who grows a heart and becomes noble over time, overcoming his earlier station in life.

....it's so very sweet when everyone in Orzammar(sp), who looked down on you in your origin, are forced to show you respect when you come back as a Grey Warden. Rubbing it in their faces was sooooo satisfying because of the great origin, where you're downtrodden upon the whole time.

And I really enjoyed the testing of loyalties with the mission involved with your sister and the whole 'who you choose to back as the new king' deal. The choice there (help her evily bent husband's guy take the throne, thus ensuring that your mom, sister and nephew are well taken care of after a hard life of the lower, poorer class...or help the good guy take the throne, and piss off your sister's dude and send your family back to Dirt Town.)

Its the only origin that I actually felt the emotions my character would be feeling. That's probably why this is my favorite role-playing game in a loooooong time.

Dwarf Noble is a great Origin story, the political intrigues and everything.

This, my brother played the Dwarf noble and I found the culture quite fascinating, generally Dwarfs are the simplest characters as far as culture goes in an RPG, their description going as far as 'they live in tunnels and like to hit things...hard'.

I think i'm most partial for dwarf noble. I don't like the "pig-farmer-turned-badass-superdude" scenario.

I'm not sure there is one, or at least I don't see how a noble background makes a more plausible hero.

At least in contrast with the City Elf and Human Noble scenarios: On one hand the noble might have more throughout combat training, but on the other hand the city elf has lived less sheltered life in a tough environment.

You don't start out as some usual farmer just for not picking a noble. They might have monopoly on proper armor, but not on combat skills or sheer survivalist genius.

I liked the Dalish Elf one best. Mainly because I really like the way they gave the feeling that the Dalish clan actually acted as one large family, unlike most games that try to give that feeling, but fail.
