I have to say I am very impressed with the physics from Skate.

The ragdolls dont bend the way humans cant (knees and elbows bending backwards) and the skateboard physics are great - Clipping the edge of the rail the slightest = quick ride to painville.

So yeah im totaly going away from the norm and not saying HL2 and saying Skate.

we are talking about realistic physics here not force driven physics .
and i bet that u cant pull the ship down as its shown in the trailer.
The force has nothing to do with the physics system on it's own. I'll agree with NoPeace that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has the best physics system to date. DMM blows any other system out of the water, it takes into effect how much force something has as well as where the object is coming from. It also takes into effect how durable the object receiving the hit is, so a harder wood won't break as easily as a less durable wood.

I'd have to say the source engine by far, but the vehicles make me wanna cry. So instead I'm going with GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. I don't care if there's nary a movable object in the background, the pieces integral to the game moved beautifully.

I think the source 2007 is on of the best, because of the portals.
In the source phys engine it is incredibly complex to make shortcuts (without teleportation (setpos)) and if you play the commentary, you hear that they first tried making fully accurate collision in the portals, but the time it took to calculate the portal zones was ½-1 sec.
They then settled for a less accurate collision (10 ms of calculation) and threw away the idea of using RT.

I think that the critizism of in-game physics is a poor topic. "How well does a box being thrown in Half-Life stack up to a box being thrown in Crysis?". It just doesn't do it for me.

Sega Rally 95 (Saturn) or Sega Rally Revo (PC). Sure, it isn't 'realistic' handling, but if this is how cars really felt on the road, I can't imagine the human race doing anything other than speeding in circles all day long, every day.

I know not everyone is going to agree on this, but Monkey Ball Banana Blitz. Monkey Ball was MADE for the wiimote. Probably the only game on the Wii that doesn't feel like a gimmick that actually benefits.
