The Pacific Northwest is a great place to visit. If you want unspoilt land, try either East Washington or Idaho. It's especially lovely there in the early spring and winter. The normally dry and brown mountains really bloom with the spring thaws. There are also lots of ski resorts and hot springs dotting the mountains. Coeur d'Alene is a good hub from which to plan ski trips. Lewiston and Clarkston, a little to the South are just down river of Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in North America which is quite beautiful. There's a park there with a bike trail down the Snake river. The river is also a good place to fish for trout. If you get a hold of some four-wheelers, there's a lot of open country to see. If you're into ghost towns, there's all sorts of abandoned mining towns in the hollows. Seattle and the coast aren't too far away. There are some good places for scuba diving and surfing there, plus a gorgeous city.
