Truth Be told, I have been on a real anti-hero kick. I just replayed COD4 campaign since I was going to be running out to pick up COD:WaW in the next week. Well that and that campaign could be finished in an afternoon. And it absolutely rocks. But I REALLY enjoyed Captain Price's style. And not just for the moustache. He REALLY had the greater good in mind. Well maybe the western greater good in mind, but who is counting?

. Price was concerned with keeping dangerous goods out of the hands of people that would do bad things to the west. Price was so fixed on these goals that he really let the well being of those goals countered his to fall forfiet. Price ignored a lot of moral conduct to get his job done as swiftly and efficiently as possible.
I really like these characters for the "Dark Knight" effect they have on the population. They are a total necessity in the world we live in of widely divergent values and beliefs, but in modern society, almost everyone utterly reviles their very existence. In this liberal, anti-estabolisment age, everyone hates the agents of the powers that be with the power to take such decisive, brutal action when such action is needed. People see it as uncivilized and scary, but show violent force is really often the only thing that can cross all language barriers and biases, for better or for worse.
Well all that and Price fights FOR the government, not against. Which is a bit of a new spin on things, since everyone else is playing the underdog rebel card.
But my real Protagonist de jour is Kratos. God of War Kratos. I REALLY want to see him fleshed out a bit more. He started off as a power hungry general who was fueled only by his insatiable ambition. Then he went too far in his ambition and wound up getting himself involved in powers that were way over his head at the time (the gods), and then he ended up going too far is his pursuit of power (wont say for possible spoilers! if you dont know, please go play through the first god of war!!) And is now on a journey to free himself from the memories of his crimes, to cease his servitude to the gods and just generally be left alone. Kratos is like a character from a greek tragedy being played in reverse, starting at his tragic mistake and has to make it to his redemption. All that and his is outwardly and incredibly selfish, evil bad ass, that, even from the start of the game must commit to tasks that are inarguably for the greater good, dispite again, being a total malicious misanthrope. But he still has just that little measure of remorse and regret to almost seem human. He may not be the BEST example, but it is MY favorite.
**Sorry for the wall of text, but myself and a good friend we just arguing this not an hour ago, so I came in to this topic with both barrels loaded**
