I wouldn't mind seeing a new version of G-Police, I quite enjoyed it.
Also Jumping Flash would make for a rather interesting and unusual re-release and it'd look pretty good with updated graphics.

You're only point that I consider valid is the hard to track down thing, but that's what the Virtual Console, PSN, and XBox LIVE Arcade are for. ...well okay, that and the not displaying properly on modern displays, but again I reference Virtual Console etc.

Graphics can't possibly be that big a deal, after all how many people are playing fucking MINECRAFT.
They may not be a huge deal, but bad graphics can be an unnecessary distraction. Minecraft doesn't have a story/a setting/characters/etc, so it's not that much of an issue there. The graphics serve their purpose. And they're in 1080p + Widescreen.

I can't speak for Virtual Console, but XBL and PSN have depressingly small libraries of old games. The European PSN has 5 PS1 RPGs right now, and three of those are Final Fantasy. They don't offer PS2 games as downloads, so that leaves a pretty big backlog of games that are left obscure.

As for XBL, well, that is mostly remakes, they wouldn't be in widescreen otherwise. There are some on-demand games from the original Xbox, but that's it.

I do kind of agree, though. I would much rather have all the older games released on a digital distribution platform than have a developer remake all of them. Unfortunately, that just doesn't seem to be happening, and I prefer playing a remake to checking eBay. There have been some really good re-releases too (Disgaea and Persona 3 for the PSP, for example).

Or do you mean remakes in the literal sense of re-making the game completely from scratch? I don't know if they've ever done that, but it would be kind of pointless, yes.
Well I suppose simply updating older games for current systems is okay, but I'd still rather them focus on bringing out new stuff than rereleasing stuff they've already done. Esp. if all that's required is a graphics upgrade.

Suikoden 1, Legend of Legaia, both amazing games but with horrible graphics by today's standards.

Soviet Stike also comes to mind.

Yea, I agree on FFVI along with Legend of Dragoon for sure. I think it would be awesome to play FFVII with updated graphics and such, but as long as they don't change anything story-wise.

I really was NOT expecting anyone to call upon Jade Cocoon but FUCK YEA!

Also, a sequel to The Unholy War would be awesome.

Other than that, Legend of Legaia.

Final Fantasy VIII.

Remake it with HD graphics, update the story, fix some of the plot discrepancies, finally admit that Rinoa is Ultimecia and make the ending reflect that, don't fall down the pithole of Advent Children's overexaggurating characters, and make sure David Borreanz is no where near it, maybe no voices at all save for effects, etc.

This, IMO, is what would be the best remake of any PS1 game, as it would actually improve people's view of a game that I like but others hate :(

Hmm, I'd rather leave my favourites in the corner of my brain dedicated to 'Nostalgia' so I can continue to look back at them with rose tinted glasses. Because I'd rather keep it as it is than see it potentially get ruined.

But, if I had to pick, it would be Future Cop: LAPD. Seriously. There aren't enough good mech games out there.

I know what you mean, but I think I rather be offended by a remake than have my favorite game be forgotten forever. I call this the Transformers syndrome...damm you Micheal Bay!

Also, I freakin' LOVE Future Cop: LAPD!!! I totally forgot about that game. Yes it most definitely needs a remake.

How so? I'm not sure I get what you mean by that comment.
OT: I forgot Blood Omen and Soul Reaver Just don't rplace Jay with another voice actor and we're golden, yes I know he's dead.
*Wasn't.
FF7 was boring crap compared to most of the games before it and after it on the PS1.

OT:
Blood Omen would do well, no more isometric crap.

I'd mark for a Legend of Dragoon remake. Hell, I was planning on firing it up again tomorrow.
hehe beat me to it. That was such a sweet game (I saw someone post on here before something about copyright issues although I could be mistaken. So .. maybe we'll see it again)

Bushido Blade. With motion control, or subtle movements of the right thumbstick. Anyone?

I definitely second that!

Also, I'm not sure if games that have sequels or are already remade on the PS2 count. Seems to me that they already had a second chance and they either blew it or its just too soon to be successful. [few exceptions of course]

As for blood omen, I hope your not implying that it needs something other than a top down perspective, are you?
Because that would just be silly.

Well, some opinion is just fact! Welcome to the internet boy - XcoreX up in this thread - ice ice baby, hardcore.

OT:
Seeing as how I've had WAY more fun with Blood Omen 2 and the other Legacy of Kain games that were in 3rd Person - I'd say, at least for this series, YES.

I love some isometric games, like Fallout, but some series get better - not worse - *cough* FO3 *cough* when switching to a different 'camera angle'.

There's that word agian, isometric means from above at an angle, BO is simply from a top down perspective, sorry for being pedantic but the truth must be known!

And I didn't much care for BO2 (or Defiance for that matter), I'll give you that Soul Reaver damn sure needs a Third person perspective, but it'd just be weird for Blood Omen.
Though I guess that comes down to opinion again, I just know I'd personally hate it, it'd be like replacing Tony Jay with Steve Blum, it just wouldn't feel right.

On the issue of NOSTALGIA:

I understand that a lot of these games are precious in all of our childhood memories but to reiterate what I call the Transformers syndrome, wouldn't you want someone to try and remake/reboot the series and fail rather than have your game completely forgotten by nearly everyone. At least you'll have something to ***** at (We could be those old crazy dudes who keep saying that everything was better back in the day). I F-ing HATE the new Transformers series but at least it brought the spirit of Transformers back to the table for everyone to enjoy/discuss.

Like everyone I do not condone the triple-A desecrating of our most valued games but I really think that if it was made by someone who truly respects and loves the series then I believe that there is a small chance for a successful translation to next-gen consoles. Maybe I'll start a new thread on how YOU can remake your favorite game IF YOU HAD TO.

P.S. Also, I think it's also better to pay homage to a series than to blatantly rip-off. Looking at you God of War clones!

P.P.S. FFVII is a GREAT game but I would have to agree with mireko that old graphics can be very distracting when playing old games (bad translation can also be an issue). Would you truly enjoy a 50s movie nowadays and not get distracted by the old cinematography?

I can't be the only one thinking that remakes are usually not worth it...Been my experience that when a game gets a remake, it usually ends up being horrible or nothing like the original to the point where everyone goes back to the old game...

But if I HAD to choose...I'd say the ORIGINAL Spyro game. The one Insomniac made, not any of the ones that came out on the PS2. They do not count. And really, just the original. I like the other two Insomniac made just fine, but I've wasted sooooo many hours on the original, it's not even funny.

Other than that...Crash...or Ape Escape. Never owned either, but I always had an awesome time playing when I got the chance.
