I'd start a war so that people stopped talking about countries as though everyone in a country fits certain stereotypes. During it, I'd use massive amounts of discriminatory propaganda against those on the other side.

Because someone tried fucking with your country first. But I mean in a major way, like shooting a bunch of missiles at major cities or something.

Self defense. I see that as the only valid reason to go to war. Not start one, though. I don't mean Bush's "WE THINK THEY MIGHT HAVE A FEW WMD'S LET'S INVADE FOR OUR SAFETY (and their oil)" idea of self-defense, I mean "they have stated that they will engage us in combat/war" or "they already declared war on us".

The only justifiable reason for me to start a war is if anyone attacked my territory or the territory of any of my allies.

There are some good reasons to go to war. There are no good reasons to start one.

Though these are generally reasons to go, they could be pre-emptive I suppose.
1. Self-preservation/defense (including a WWII situation of "they aren't directly after us now, but it's on their to-do list).
2. Defense of an ally, unless they were the aggressor.

Otherwise, to actually just start one, not really any good ones.

There is no good reason to start a war really, but in the event that a country has done something irrasional-say taking prisioners from your country and torturing or enslaving them- then perhaps violence is better than diplomacy.

I did post it as an ironic statement, but it does make sense in a perverted way. By starting a war in a foreign land you prevent the 'enemy' from bringing the front line to your doorstep, potentially saving your own citizens.

This is a reason why I shouldn't be involved in any military activity.
