FFVII ... 
ok maybe more my Favorite than "the best" but its the game that got me into RPGs. I think if they remade FFVII for the PS3 ... it would be a lot more people's #1. i can still play ff7 and enjoy it even after countless times before.
I just got Fallout3 about 2 weeks ago, i knew it would be great of course and will be one of my fav games no doubt (if not already). Its like an upgraded Oblivion (which i loved) with guns and a more modern/engaging story.
let me throw this equation out there... FO3 + FF7 = OMG fantasic!
* wish i had a better PC to play Mass Effect on, it sounds/looks good. i'm not going over to xbox... unless anyone can spare a free one

I've said this numerous times but I love this game to no end, never before have I had this much enjoyment from a game that brings me back to it to this day still. It had great characters, hilarious dialog and one of the most disturbing final bosses ever. There was never a moment in this game that I felt bored at (which is rare for me with RPGs). It was at about the time I ended up in the town full of zombies that I realized this is not just your average JRPG. Say what you want, this game is great!
Other RPGs I'm very fond of: Chrono Trigger, KOTOR, Final Fantasy VI, Mass Effect, Diablo 2, the fallout series.
