Which singer do you think is the most skilled in the world? I personally think that Russian singer Vitas [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjO_VXHxsRw&feature=related] is the most talented singer ever.

EDIT: Also, Matt Heafy from Trivium, simply cause he has such a strong voice. He can go from heavy screaming that would break anyone's lungs in 5 seconds, to beautiful 100% clean singing.

I prefer Michael Stipe, because even if he isn't the best technical performance, he really pours his heart and soul into his music, and it shows vibrantly.

actually it said "what singer do YOU think" so yes I think M. Shadows is an amazing singer and what you have to say about it frankly doesn't matter.

Oddly enough, Mariah Carey. Yeah yeah, I don't much like her music, but you can't dispute the skill, power, and talent of the voice.

If I have to also like the music, then I'd have to go with Old Blue Eyes. Sinatra may not have been the most technically skilled singer, but his voice does have a certain talent for relaxation and pleasantry.

I'm showing my age, aren't I?

I wanna go with an oldie and say Ella Fitzgerald.
Ooo, good call. Probably the best woman singer for ease-of-listening in history.

Now that I think about it though, the Siren's from Homer's Odyssey trump all other singers. I don't know of any singer that is SOOOO good that it would cause sailors to smash their ships and drown just to hear them.

Jeff Buckley. Some people don't like his falsetto, but I love it. Quite frightening vocal range (eight octaves if that means anything to you).

Ok just one question for you, Sinatra or Tony Bennette?
I'd prefer Sinatra. Perhaps just my life, but a more pleasant and relaxing voice brings more appreciation to me. Bennett does have a flare to make one smile and he definitely feels more engaging with the audience, which is vocal talent, not music, in my opinion.

Freddy Mercury for me.
His impressive range, and the fact that he mastered both classic and rock leaves me with a huge amount of respect for him.
