Best Single Player PC Games? (I Need Suggestions!)

Im bored, and I want some PC games to kill some time. I only have a laptop, so online gaming is out of the question (try playing CS with the touchpad). Also keep in mind that it is nothing more than a "good" laptop, so nothing high-end on spec requirements.

Im pretty much primarily a console gamer, so throw me some suggestions!

Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Medieval: Total War II.

How about the King's Quest Series? Space Quest? Police Quest? Quest for Glory? Colonel's Bequest? Conquest of Camelot?
....got sidetracked reading the titles of all the gameboxes still lurking under my computer desk. Why do I still have these, most of them are for A: drive, and my computer doesn't even have that drive anymore.
I also would've included the Gabriel Knight games sitting down there with the others, but they don't have 'Quest' anywhere in the titles.
