Best sniper game

Only one mission really, and that's "All Ghillied Up" in COD4:MW. There was one part where you snipe someone in a church tower. I had all the graphics on the highest settings, and the sound of the sillenced shot, the bloodspatter on the windows. It was just...wow. Goosebumps moment.

MacMillan's VO was just awesome in this level. To quote him "Beautiful".

Post your favorite sniper game and why this is your favorite! DONT YOU DARE say MW2 multiplayer. Mine would have to be BFBC or BFBC2 multiplayer. I love how there is actually bullet drop and all the different sniper rifle choices, and also how you have to switch areas because other players will eventually find you.

I love sitting the the scrubbery, camping for hours at the time... Only interupted by map changes and toilet breaks.

I just love the whining from the guy you have just killed 4 times in a row, when he finnaly thinks he have found you, only to find out that you have moved... And shot him again!

And then there is the camo, which works really well! As far as iv been told about BFBC2, you cant lie down, which really limits your hiding-spots... And is rather unrealistic

i don't remember what it was called but it was an arcade game that you held a sniper and pointed at the screen to shoot...it was by far the best sniper game i've ever played.

Probably one of the silent scope series.

silent scope thats what it was called ah man i loved that game. but what i want to know is how many of you have actually shot a REAL sniper. i hear a lot of "oh it was realistic" but i really doubt most or any of you have actually shot one to compare it with the video game ones. granted yes the silent scope ones were that realistic mainly because a sniper defiantly has some kick back to it...that would be kind of fun to add to an arcade game a rifle with a kick to it.

What I meant by realism was simply bullet drop and other wind and weather effects. Silent scope and art of victory shoot right at the cross hair every single time with no drop so its not realistic in that sense. That was merely what I was trying to say.

Most people will probably say sniper elite because of the simulated bullet drop and other physical effects; but, I will say the hitman series. The sniper is just one of many satisfying tools with which to kill your targets. It takes thoughtful planning to bring about a situation in which you can snipe a target and get away silently but when you do, it is very damn satisfying.

The Remington 700 is used by many SWAT forces as a sniper weapon, so i can say, yes I have fired and own a real sniper. Actually killed an antelope with it too.

Counter-Strike: Source is fairly realistic with their Sniper Rifles. No bullet drop or wind effect, but the HUGE recoil on the AWP kind of makes up for that.

Why can't we say Modern Warfare? It had fairly good sniper parts.

I'd say Battlefield: 1943 or TF2, mainly because you can't quick scope and because it's basically point gun, shoot, reload, repeat.

I think that he's raged against it because a lot of people prefer quick sniping over the truer sense of sniping which they refer to as "hard scoping". That' the irritating factor there. I think he's looking for something more along the lines of the mission from Modern Warfare 1. I wish I could add more but I've never played what I would consider a good sniping game. I've played games that had sniping in it but not enough that I would consider them to be a "sniper game".

I like stealthy sniping and actually having to use stealth, opposed to MW2 multiplayer where you run around in the open trying to quick scope

BFBC2, because I liked using the fully automatic sniper, since it was essentially a silenced SMG that allowed you to use a ghillie suit, if you put a red dot on that bad boy. I loved that thing.

Or, alternatively, Red Dead Redemption. Rolling Block and Carcano is the way to go.

Wait, why can't we say MW2? I found Sniper Fi bloody fun and CoD 4 multiplayer wasn't bad when the server decided to play along.

OK i take it back you can say MW2 Single player or Spec Ops. I totally overlooked those sniper missions, they were so much fun. Just not MW2 multiplayer.*so horrid* *so horrid*

Totally agreed. MW2 is the only online shooter where I don't actually feel like a sniper even if my character looks the most like one with those fancy ghillie suits.

My favorite part of MW2 is how your character can lug around a Barret .50 cal and fire off a whole magazine from his hip without fucking himself up. It's really impressive.

You don't like how you can hold 2 shotguns, spin them around your finger, then reload both at the exact same time?

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer because you simply secretly wanted me to say it (dont deny it).

In all seriousness, its because, imo, I have not played a game that has captured the same fps gun feel as well as the cod series (css excepted because I have played that a load). You can hate me all you want, its just my opinion after all. Then again, I do not have much experience with pure-sniper games, I prefer to sometimes get pretty darn close to my enemies (automatics ftw).

Although my favorite pure sniper only game has to be the arcade game silent scope because for its time, it is friggin awesome (oh and I am good at it). The realism can be better but, I just like how you can actively see the whole environment be it a building, aeroplane, cruise ship from a dinghy, then actually scope in, by looking through the gun model's scope, magnifying the view into your target (a terrorist) and choose where you shoot him (usually the head). And then the occasional boss which requires pretty precise aim. Too bad it costs a dollar for each playthrough...

Edit: this is sort of a flame shield in a little way..

I lol-ed at the posts above where people were mentioning how unrealistic mw2 was (for starters, you dont just hide in a corner for 5 secs and be totally fighting fit after being sprayed at). I do not play fps's for the realism. I play them for the fun of it. Yes, it is ridiculous that a person can fire a .50cal whilst standing and not even moving at inch however, this does not bother me at all, or even get in the way of me having an absolute blast.
