Pretty much been totally ninja'd, but - Okami! And some I haven't seen other people post: Starcraft. World of Goo. Machinarium.

I like the soundtracks to pretty much every game I own. There's just something about VGM...

Half-Life's soundtrack is utterly amazing.

Left 4 Dead 2's too, but there is simply to little of it to enjoy it.

RATCHET AND CLANK HELL TO THE YES

Edit: Oh, and Myst: Revelation, and Assassin's Creed II, and Silent Hill, and Metal Gear Solid. And who could ever forget the Deus Ex theme song.

Until last week I would have said Lost Odyssey, but my favourite game's soundtrack has been dethroned as my favourite game soundtrack for the soundtrack of NIER:

^ That's a boss battle theme.

The great thing about the music is that it's all sung in a made up language - thus the lyrics never get tiring; even if the songs are slightly repetitive in places. What's more, the majority of these songs have a counter-version that plays during events - so the lyrics themselves come to represent certain events in of themselves.

i see no reason to hide on that one, sure the game was broken but i thought that soundtrack was made of win, made me a huge fan of the Arkhams.

also though i was ninja'd i have to agree that anything akira yamaoka touches turns to auditory gold

For recent releases, I'm gonna have to go with Monster Hunter 3Tri.

Game Intro:

The one variation for bosses is also pretty badass:

For older stuff all I can come up with at the moment is the ending theme they used for the credits in Super Mario 64:

Mass Effect had an amazing sound track, it's one of the few games I've bought the sound track for. The Presidium is one of my favorite songs ever.
*nods* I know right, it has this very far away sound to it, unfortunate they swapped out that neat music in ME2.

you sir, are almost right, you have left just a few: Psychonauts, BG1 and BG2 and VTMB (Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines) plus finally Planescape.

All Halo games. my favorites are the delta halo suite from halo 2 and under cover of night from halo combat evolved.

Shadow of the Colossus- most majestic fight music of all time.

Metroid Prime, particularly the Chozo Ruins, Phendrana Drifts and the Space Pirate themes.

Some Final Fantasy games have great memorable music, such as One-Winged Angel from FFVII, the main theme from FFX, and some of the older boss fight themes.

I also love the Afterlife club music from Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 2 (Especially Suicide Mission)
Both of the KotOR games have pretty good soundtracks, too

The radio stations in Saints Row 2 + GTA: Vice City or Morrowind - The opening theme for Morrowind alone probably takes the cake.

I'm going to have to agree with a lot of you in saying that the TimeSplitters series has always had superb soundtracks. To add, if you don't mind particularly shallow, generic rock every once in a while, then Burnout 3: Takedown has a fantastic soundtrack, especially for the subject matter.
