The remakes of Monkey Island 1 & 2 are on Steam and they're cheap. You owe it to yourself, you really do.

Anything made by Valve. They made the system, so naturally their games are the most optimized for it. Also, Valve's games in general are made of concentrated badassery.

At the moment my favourite is Terraria. It's awesome. Although that said I've started to only play it when friends are on it too, I guess 100 hours starts to take away the appeal of single player.

Team Fortress 2. Best damn multiplayer game I've ever played.

Best of all: it's free now! Unless you have a completely crappy computer (unintentional alliteration FTW) you have no excuse not to try it.

Notable mentions are Killing Floor, Dawn of War: Retribution, Terraria, Monday Night Combat and Majesty: Gold Edition.

There are some very good Steam games, but come on...

There's a reason people call it the most popular multiplayer shooter ever made.

Fixed that for you.

And I would have to agree. I have almost 1000 hours in TF2 (though quite a few were from idling, but whatever). Also, Left 4 Dead 2 (when they FINALLY come out with Dead Air for it). Half Life was pretty damn good, but its just I've played it about 20 times over, so its hard to feel too enthused about it anymore.

Totes going to say Super Meat Boy. That game is made of win. It's very difficult, it's very simple, it's very FUN!

TF2. I mean, I would of picked TF2 before it was free... And now it's free.

Also, I don't know if this counts, but Knights of the old republic when it was on sale for £1. Worth it!

If you're looking for a freebie, Zombie Panic: Source is a good option, it has a decent sized community with ever-changing maps because of the thriving mod community( Its also one of the 2 games my craptastic computer can run without crashing)

I'd definitely recommend Psychonauts. Brilliant, funny, cheap game.

All the DooM games rolled into one when it goes on sale sometimes. But the title I can't live without has got to be errr....the Portal saga.
Extremely witty, incredibly innovative (to the point of "Why didn't we think of this before in gaming?") and generally a good merge of the puzzle and FPS

Great suggestions, seems like I have some of the better ones already. Certainly going to check Terraria, Warhammer, and Psy naughts out.
Has anyone here enjoyed the Hitman games, the Deus Ex games, or Morrowind? I've been thinking about getting them.
