Best thing I've had to read? That's a tall order... Not necessarily the best, but in Junior English, I chose The Grapes of Wrath to do my semester report on, and it was incredible.

I loved Julius Caesar and The Odyssey, the teacher that made me read them on the other hand...

Luckily that class was only for a semester.

I didn't like any books that I had to read in class, however years later I decided to read, Catcher in the Rye and found it was pretty good actualy.

Charles Burns' "Black Hole" for a Graphic Novel university course. Incredible read.

Also, surprisingly, in Grade 9 we read The Crysalids, which was fan-fucking-tastic! Don't think anyone in the class really appreciated it as much as I did...damned hick school.

I really liked Graham Greene's The Quiet American. I also enjoyed Hamlet, which I didn't really 'read' exactly, but I think still counts.

EDIT: I'm not sure if I read all of Heart of Darkness, but I do remember liking it. It was very powerful.

Tricky, this one. I'll have to go with To Kill a Mockingbird.

No, wait! Sula, by Toni Morrison.

Forgotten Fire, Night, To Kill A Mockingbird, Sevek. 3 of the 4 were for English, and 3 of the 4 are Holocaust/Genocide related...interesting.

I loved 1984, and Fahrenheit 451 was pretty damned decent as well.
Same as. Except I had actually read 1984 before hand. We did have quite a few awesome books to read this year with Brave New World, A Clockwork Orange and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Leading the charge of awesomeness. I also had to read a play called ZAP! for English a couple of years ago which was quite a laugh. Talking bout that English class I also had to the Power Of One which I liked a lot.
