Metal Gear Solid.

And May Payne (yay old school).

Personally, I also liked Kane & Lynch. ._.

Just Cause 2.

Why?

JUST
CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSEEEEEEEE

also I never played a game where you can grapple onto a helicopter, steal it, then pick up a truck with it and start smashing statues with the truck acting as a giant wrecking ball. Actually, I never did that at all in the game. brb

Max Payne 1 & 2. Both are challenging and have a great story. They also do a good job at immersing you in the game, unitl you get to that trippy dream sequence where Max realizes he's in a game.

I will say Hitman Bloodmoney only because I don't play a lot of them. Although that game is more about the stealth than it is with the shooting. Then again there is nothing more fun that running around in a suit with a Spas 12 shotgun, pumping slugs into everyone you see.

The Jak series is an action platformer. Just sayin'.

I'll go with the Ratchet and Clank series, even though it's a bit of a stretch.

That's a close call between Battlefront 2 and Mass Effect 2.

Hmm...

Someone come and Fanboy at me to help me decide!
Well Battlefront 2 had the option to switch to first person in the options menu. So it was more of a "how you play" the game thing.

That being said

Fan Boy commands you to pick Battlefront 2.

I prefer third-person games where the protagonists use melee weapons so my palette isn't very broad. But I kind of like the original Dead to Rights and the first BloodRayne. Both got way too repetitive and dull in the middle, and both have pretty idiotic stories, but gameplay was quite smooth and they had some nice additional abilities (both used a human shield system, for one) that made them a bit different.
