uncharted 2, it's multi player is like Gears, but it isn't just a mad dash to the super-weapons garnished with a shit-tonne of glitches!

That's a close call between Battlefront 2 and Mass Effect 2.

Hmm...

Someone come and Fanboy at me to help me decide!
If by Star Wars battle front, then hell yes.

Edit: Enter the Matrix was one of my favorite games on the PS2

Gears of War two just because of all the giant monsters. I don't know why but the minute giant creatures start showing up mid battle it makes any game more enjoyable to me.

Gears of War has the best actual TPS combat I've played, so I'll go with that. I consider Mass Effect an RPG, and Ratchet and Clank a platformer.

wait, someone liked that game? i head it was pretty terrible.
It is. Particularly the PC version, awful and awkward port. Go for Alpha Protocol imo, it's similarish but about 500 times better on the whole. Don't believe the hype that's shouting "full of bugs" and similar shit, there are a few, but all easily workaroundable, never got in the way of the game for me and it's kind of a unique experience being a stealth RPG.

OT: ME2 for sure. Just can't beat it imo, the TPS mechanics are perfect.

Jet Force Gemini for old school and Earth Defense Force 2017 for new.
Both hidden gems, and JFG was WAY ahead of its time.
I would be inclined to agree that Earth Defense Force 2017 is the best TPS. I can't wait for the sequel!

Definitely Gears of war 2.

Gears 1 was fun but the sequel took everything that was great, added more great, made more varied setpieces and environments, added in an extremely fun horde mode then shipped.

For all that we bang the "Games are art" drum and won't even give the light of day to a game thats plot doesn't make you go on a rollercoaster of thought and emotion it's important to remember that fun really is what you should get out of a game, and what isn't fun about chainsawing ground aliens with your machine gun whilst the cole-train makes wise-cracks?

Hmmm...

Gears of War series for the best-in-the-business TPS gameplay
Mass Effect series for the story and competent TPS gameplay
Uncharted series for the cinematic nature.
Armed and Dangerous, quite literally for the lulz.

Overall I've enjoyed Uncharted 2 for almost a year but in little over an hour it'll be sold on ebay. The single player was the most fun I've had this gen before I played GOWIII

I can't believe how little love Red Dead Redemption is getting, it makes me sad, because that is a great third person shooter, I love the feel to some of the guns, although it isn't perfect.

I would say Uncharted 2 for me, it really had an all around great package.
