This show MADE my childhood.
I remember the only reason i went to school was to laugh about this show, talk about what might happen next, and then get a decent grade on my test so my parents wouldent bother me while i watched it.

Plus, me and Coop eat stuffing the exact same way.
Cookie for anyone who remembers that thanksgiving episode.

Ninja'd...

[sub]I do remember that episode. In fact, I have every episode from both seasons on my laptop. Do I get an extra cookie?[/sub]

Well uh... Avatar: The Last Airbender is pretty damn good.

I'd say:

* Lost (and I'am suprised that nobody mentioned it so far!)

Probably the most important show of the decade, Lost delivered everything I want from a TV Series:
Strong Characters, an enticing Storyline and a great atmosphere of mystery. Unfortunately lacked in solving all its mysteries and has an ending that does not do this great show any justice...

* House M.D.

Took all Hospital based shows and turned them upside down: instead of a largely soap-opera-like approach (like e.g. in Emergency Room) House turned diseases into a crime show with every episode finding the culprit of the steadily declining health of a patient. And it has House - one of the most interesting and engaging characters in recent TV history.

* The Wire

Up until now I've only seen the first season, but - hell - I would be damned if I didn't enjoy it: Probably the series with the most realistic portrayal of people and crime investigation I've seen so far. Very gritty and realistic in its looks and imo lacking in its storyline, this show is a purely cerebral matter: the extreme realism that this show displays is nothing short of a bitter social criticism and art in its own right. Highly recommended.

* Dexter

Dexter is the House of crime shows: Instead of taking the usual formula this show takes it and turns it upside down. The protagonist is a serial killer who works for the police and struggles with his nature. What makes this show so special is that it succeeds in portraying Dexter as a character, shows his emotional turmoil and development without getting any less exciting through the first two seasons.
A great storyline accompanied by a great character.

The Inbetweeners. Without a doubt the funniest show I've ever seen.
Here is my favourite bit:

I agree with blade but the dresden files really? I watched it and throught it was ok but nothing special, then I was bored one summer got the books and they were the best books I had ever read. The tv show was nothing like the books it was just crap. But hay we are all allowed to have an opinion.

OT: I would have to say chuck and firefly. Why can fox never do anything right?

The Wire. That show basically ruined TV for me, particularly TV dramas, because I know nothing will ever be as good as that ever again.
Have you seen The Corner? Also created by David Simon and it ruined The Wire for me and somehow made Bubbles seem even more of a cartoon character. So while brilliant if you (understandably) hold The Wire in very high esteem it could be one to avoid.

OT: The Sopranos, while the pilot was recorded in 1997 and the first season broadcast in 1999 it ran during the 00's and to my mind is the crowning achievement of American television, huge depth and breadth in my opinion possibly the densest one of the most ambitous and most multi layered piece of programming ever made.

Honourable mentions that probably won't be mentioned: 15 Storeys High there are others but nothing that touches 15 Storeys High in my opinion. I would highly recommend watching them on youtube (and buying them).

The Wire. Everything everyone says about it is true.
I love how parts of the very last episode relate back to the first episode of the first season.

The Sopranos too. What an amazing and gritty television show.

definetly Chuck and Scrubs, I've never seen any other tv show that came close to their epicness.
