"Not Alone" from FF9, the orchestrated version will leave you speechless as to what exactly you should feel.

Also anything from FF6 and Chrono Trigger is pretty much brilliant.

Shamed though I am to say it...gonna have to go with the main theme to Katamari Damacy.

Also, the theme for Dragonroost Island in the Windwaker is just gorgeous. Zelda has a long standing tradition of excellent themes.

Main Katamari theme is too awesome for words, but according to xkcd, it can be dangerous to have it on while in a car.

That comic is EXACTLY what I had in mind. But I loved it before it was cool

OT: Also love the Wario themes, just about all of them. They're perfect for the character hmself. They manage to make music sound sarcastic

Oh, man, there's too many to name them all. Off the top of my head would be the Battlefield theme (you know the one), Max Payne's theme, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl orchestral tones, CoD4's songs, Warcraft/World of Warcraft (and other Blizzard games) music, Ain't No Rest for the Wicked (too bad Borderlands doesn't feature too much music apart from that), the classic Mario and Zelda tunes, lots of them.

I'm generally a real sucker for orchestral pieces.

Final Fantasy has great music in general, but FFX has to be my favorite. Particularly: Zanarkand, Suteki da ne, and Jecht are all awesome for varying reasons. Totally agree with the choice of SH2's theme aka Theme of Laura, but I also like Angel's Thanatos. Room of Angel is good. Legend of Zelda theme also rocks.

I am pretty surprised no one has mentioned Ain't Know Rest for the Wicked by Cage the Elephant, Featured in Borderlands opening. It was not made especially for the game but the game really gave this awesome song some attention.

I haven't heard a single one on this list that I disagree with, but there is a notable item missing. Bloody Tears from Castlevania is always awesome. The original was awesome; the newer versions are awesome; the remixes are awesome; the covers by great bands are awesome. I especially like the Saturn version,. I challenge anyone to find a better boss battle theme. And yes, I have played Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and all the other classics.

Go look up Katie Covington's vocal version of it too. It's absurdedly good. She also did 'Roses of May' and 'The place I'll return too' (Aka the main theme)

Don't you mean Fallout 2? I don't recall it being in vanilla Fallout 3.

And that's one of my favorite songs as well. Though I don't really think of it as video game music.

While I do think it's a good song, did anyone else think the place they choose to put in the game was a bit.....random? It just didn't feel appropriate, I mean my camp was just ambushed by Darkspawn minutes earlier.
