I was going to say Jennifer Hale.

But then someone posted Sara Kestelman as Kreia and the memory of getting chills from like 80% of her dialogue returned to me. In many ways her masterful portrayal of Kreia is what carried KOTOR2.

Anyone from the Warhammer and GTA series, Samuel L Jackson as the police officer in San Andreas was pretty cool. Oh and Michael Ironside who is boss as Sam Fisher.

Lots of great suggestions already, but I'm surprised this fellow hasn't been mentioned yet;
Mark Hamill is a freakin' genius, and I must say that his character in Darksiders sounds really good too. That game in general has very good voicework, now that I think of it.

I'm going with Jennifer Hale's work as FemShep as BEST.

I just made my first FemShep, and honestly, I don't really know what the fuss is all about. Not that I think she's bad, oh no, but that good? And that much better than ShepLoo?

best performance in the west are Jennifer Hale for MAAANY MAAAAAAANY different voices (like female commander shepard or trishka from bulletstorm) she is extremely versatile and skillful

And for a male western voice actor...I'd have to say Steve Valentine ^^

in Japanese video games is a different roster since Japanese voice actors can not only voice normal larger than life characters very good they also managed to perfect the art of incredibly insane characters something that I still have to see in western voice actors

So the best female voice actress in Japan (in my opinion) is Akemi OKAMURA who voices nami in one piece for example

the best male voice actor in Japan is Tomokazu SUGITA who voices Gintoki in gintama for example

He's great, but his performance in Oblivion was very lacking.

I'll grant he cannot be blamed for the terrible lines and lack of direction he had to work with. Bethesda is the real problem, but still, this is about results in games, not about movies and TV series.

I'd pick Mark Hamill as the joker in Arkham Asylum, btw.

in my opinion, Jim Cummings as The Mask in Splatterhouse

He was obviously having a shitload of fun with that character.

In a similar vein, the guy from Faith No More in 'The Darkness' was very compelling.

I recently replayed Fallout 3 and rembered how good Liam Neeson was as a voice actor,

That game had Malcolm McDowell in it and you remember Liam Neeson? Well I'm certainly surprised.

The only person I ever felt gave a great performance as a major caracter was David Hayter in the MGS games.

Malcolm Mcdowell is cool, But Liam Neeson's voice has so much more presence to it, especially since he's playing your dad.

Its like saying "yeah Patrick Stewart was cool, but Sean Bean was in it too"


Ellen McLain as GlaDos has my vote, just get chills when i hear it. At least best Female voice artist

Personally I just fopund his voice, sort of bland. The fact his character was as annoying as hell didn't help.

I'd also say that as well in Oblivion, Patrick Stewart basically just appers to say "Hey I'm Patrick Stewart from Star Trek! By the way you're the hero and I need to die now. Bye!" he's not there as a character just as a recognisable voice. Sean Bean on the other hands actually acts as a character within the story.
