She wasn't doing it for 12-ish years. Once she left for pregnancy leave (relatively early in the series), they had enough sound clips of her saying "Pikachu" over and over again that they just had to modify and playback whenever they needed a proper emotion from Pikachu.

Optimus Primal from Beast Wars, I friggin' loved that show, and that big ape commanded respect just by speaking. seems he was also the voice for normal Optimus Prime in some of the transformer seasons, so yeah, pretty bad ass
