This is basically just a debate i was having with myself as to who people believe is the best leader/general in the Warhammer 40k universe, though i am putting a stipulation on this, people may not put the primarchs, namely because it wouldn't be fair, as people would also say the Emperor, also not fair, i want this to be a debate, so there may not be any posts of Emperor or the Primarchs, making this more fair, also, if you are just going to bash the thread, please dont, there is no point, just because you dont like the series/games/books etc, doesnt mean that others dont, so please keep this peaceful.
Seeing as though this is my thread, i'll go first and, as an imperial guard player, will say Lord Solar Macharius

Eldrad Ulthran.

Knowing what your enemy is going to do before he's even come up with the idea to do it, is the perfect way to fight a war. And a necessary way too, since there aren't that many Eldar left.

I play Daemons myself, but the Chaos Gods' motivations don't really make much sense from a mortal perspective, so it's hard to classify them as great leaders.

for me its a toss up between ciaphas cain and pedro kantor, on cains side he managed to became a hero and brilliant leader entirely accidentely and pedros case he led 158 marines to victory over a enermous waagh after having his entire chapter decimated in the destruction of their main fortress monastery. both are equally awesome leaders though.

I'm not really all that up to speed with the generals and leaders, but from the books I've read, I think Colonel-Commissar Ibram Guant is a great leader of men.

He's firm but fair, has a keen tactical mind, is fearless in the face of the enemy and he inspires respect and devotion from all who serve under him, and even most other allies or non-military personnel who have contact with him.

Lucius the Eternal :p
Just because I like the Emperor's Children... and the fact that those who kill him are pretty screwed.

Emperors Children may be murderous daemons, but boy do they know how to colour co-ordinate.

As for my answer: Eldrad Ulthran.

Ctan stargod: Meh, suppose so, you can use it in the tabletop game and is beatable, albeit toughly.
Saint Celestine, yeah she counts, i just dont really count her as a decent leader, but thats probably because i prefer totally human people, also im surprised no one has said Colonel Commissar Yarrik, or Colonel 'Iron Hand' Straken, but thats just my thoughts.
Hmmmm, maybe ill have to ask who is the best singular unique character, for me it would be Sly Marbo........leave that for you lot to guess
