Water levels are infamous for their utter shittiness. In your opinions, what are the best, or at least most tolerable, water levels? I've got to say coral capers from donkey kong country solely for the music.

Almost all of Ecco the Dolphin. Some bits were still crappy however.

There are a couple of levels in Final Fantasy X that are underwater. They weren't terrible.

God I love DK country.

I remember that on water boss from Shadow of the Collusus. You know, the one you steered by hitting the teeth on his head. And the Eel boss in the same game.

I enjoyed a lot of the water levels in Super Mario 64. Granted, a sizable amount of those levels involved jumping on platforms that were above the water, but even when under the water, I still enjoyed them.

Ugh, that eel in the first one, and the one where how high you jumped into the picture mattered. No thanks.

To each their own I suppose. I didn't mind the eel, though as I recall he definately could be annoying at times. There was an extent with that level to which a large part of what I liked about it was the background music. It was calm and beautiful. As for the one on which where you jumped into the painting mattered, if I'm remembering the right level, I really liked the little town that was hidden in that little cave. I always thought it was cool.

I would probably say none, but then the more I think about it the more I liked. Bioshock is a definite winner, though you're not really in the water during the game (Bioshock 2 had some outside bits). I didn't mind the water levels in the Sonic games. There was an awesome old Amiga game called "Blood Money" where you could play in a Submarine on one of the levels.

I can't really remember because I was so young, but there was this one underwater level in Castlevania: SotN that was sort of all right.

All the ones that got left on the cutting room floor. I have never found a water level I liked. Even Bioshock 2's sucked. Oh lets make the player waste 5 minutes walking through it. Gee thanks guys.

(This thought is for games that are on dry land for the most part. Not ones that take place in water).
