The notes in Plants versus Zombies were good, but the intro to No More Heroes 2 is great. And relevant.

Gonna have to second that. If you haven't played it go out and buy it (you can get lucky and find it for like 10 bucks on ebay) well worth every penny and with the Wii as the most popular counsel ever you can probably play it too. I'm not going to give any of the events away, I will only say that each of them is unique and that you will have to play through the game multiple times to see all of them. Also, never ever have sanity, kinda a house rule I pass on to all of you.

This is a tough call for me. I suppose that since so many did it pretty darned well, I'll just go with the first one, Omikron. Never before or since has a video game literally issued threats against my soul. It was a pretty neat idea.

Never played it, but from what I've heard messing with the player is the name of the game.

Also has anyone mentioned psycho mantis?

Definitely 5 days a stranger. Seriously, if you haven't played it, play it; and never question what gives Yahtzee the right to be a game critic again.

Arkham Asylum had a pretty good moment in the third Scarecrow fight, where it makes you think your xbox has frozen, and then restarts from the first cutscene. If you try to skip it, a little thing will pop up at the bottom that says "Press J to skip"
It then proceeds to play out the first five minutes of the game with the good/bad guys reversed. (Ex: batman is strapped into the chair now)
The joker then shoots you in the face, and it displays the death cutscene where the villain who killed you gloats over you and shows a tip. In this case the tip is "Move right thumbstick to dodge bullets" Then, instead of restarting you pop out of a friggin grave.

Keep clicking the priest in Warcraft three. One of his responses is, "I have been chosen by the big metal hand in the sky!" or something to that extent. Your cursor is a metal hand.

For some reason I always found that line highly amusing. That and it is pretty subtle. You could play the whole game without hearing it.

Playing fallout 3 on pc, you can type tcl on a console and that lets you fly through air and go through objects.

That guy on top of Megaton's gate.. eh... whose name I forgot
if you enable tcl and talk to him he'll say something like;
"The more time i spend talking with you, the less time i have looking out for raiders
...how'd you get up here anyway?"

I think every unit in that game had lines that they would only say if you clicked them repeatedly. You could also blow up the sheep in some sort of small atomic blast by clicking them repeatedly. Blizzard puts in good stuff like that, I've found.

Jak 3 for me. I laugh every single time I hear Seem say, "This isn't a game." And then Jak and Daxter both look at the camera, confusedly. It's absolutely hilarious!

Yeah it was pretty cool. They did it for Starcraft and Warcraft Two as well, so they have been implementing it for awhile. Can't say for Warcraft though, that is a little to old school for me.

Just about every time it's done in The Bard's Tale (the 2004 one, of course)... which is quite a number of times.

May not necessarily be breaking the fourth wall but "Would You Kindly?" in Bioshock had me feeling I'd just spent the last few hours being mind raped!

That one.

I'll also agree with people here on this topic that the Metal Gear Solid games had great 4th wall humor.
