Haven't had a chance to take DoA5U online yet so I can't tell you if things have improved there.

As for Kasumi, that's one of the things I liked about her. She's kinda like the Ryu (from Street Fighter) of the series in that you can pick her up and even just knowing the basics with her you can still be pretty good with her, but once you start to REALLY get to know her she becomes very deadly. With Bayman, a general rule of thumb is to always follow every throw with a down+throw to get at least part of the combo-throw. As for Bass...I just hate that guy. As a character and as a fighter. His moves are too slow and easy to counter and I just really can't stand his personality. He's one of the few fighters I've actually used the Random Filter to remove him as a possibility when I go Random (which I tend to do a lot, I think it's the best way to force yourself to learn more of the characters). And it is pretty strange how Ryu has connections with so many different fighters. He's got one with Kasumi just because, he's got one with Hayate because they're allies, he's got one with Ayane because she's in the Ninja Gaiden games. I haven't had a chance to use Ein yet (though back in DoA2 Hardcore he was one of my favorite characters) but I'm pretty sure he's got one with him as well, and now he's got Momiji and Rachel. He really is quite the popular guy. :p

As for Tina, I'm hit-or-miss with her. Sometimes I can lay a brutal smackdown with her, other times I just can't seem to do a thing with her. Helena on the other hand is one of my better characters, I like the grace and flow of her moves once you get the hang of her. When you do you can pull off some very long and effective combos.

Moving onto male characters, as I mentioned before Jann Lee is my favorite. I love his sounds and his moveset, his main drawback though is that a lot of his combos are easy for the opponent to predict since everyone's seen all of his combos a million times over, given that they tend to be pretty short and end with some kind of power-attack. Still, I love those little built-in taunt-dances after connecting with a dragon punch or a dragon kick. :3

Really the only fighter's I'm outright BAD with are - as I mentioned - Akira and I'm not very good with Zack either. Gen Fu is another one of my hit-or-miss characters like Tina, as is Eliot, Brad, and Hitomi. I'm not too good with Lisa/Mariposa and I tend to end up just button-mashing if I random-land on her.

As for Alpha 152, she's not as obscenely overpowered as she was back as the boss of DoA4. For starters she can't just arbitrarily warp behind people and beat their faces in like she could when you fight her in 4 and they watered down the power of her throws considerably (as I recall in 4, all she really had to do was land 2 throws and you were dead). Her most powerful one is the point-blank face-blast and that takes off about 1/3rd of their life. She's still got those obscenely long combos, though, and as I mentioned it's VERY easy to trigger Critical Bursts with her.

For now though it's 3:30 in the morning and time for me to call it a night...been watching Spoony's reviews of FF8, FF10, and Phantasmalgoria 2 all day long. I'll likely be back to playing a bunch more DoA tomorrow.

I've never been one for 3D fighters, I've always been a 2D kinda guy. I've got a copy of Injustice: Gods Among Us on the way, any tips before I get started?

Well general reading of the thread should help but if you want specific info I would go to Test your Might Injustice section there they have breakdowns of all the characters.

superman is easy as hell and extremely powerful you could probably get good enough to win a lot of matches in a day basically his plan is forward 2,3 cancel into breath and then if they are at a distance use eye lasers oh and his super is probably the best in the game totally instant and reaches full screen.

Deathstroke is another character you could get easy wins with because of how projectiles work in the game and the screen length meaning projectile heavy characters are in general very strong here and like superman hes low execution unless you want to try for fancy combos that you hardly ever see.

The game may get you to pick up bad habits because things like jumping a lot go pretty unpunished here especially if your say Batman with his godlike jumping 2 try and jump anywhere nearly as much in most other fighters and you will get punished for it.

I started to play Zatanna she has some awesome looking moves but shes hard as hell to use her normals seem so bad really short range and really slow for little damage but shes fun. I have had to drop the game as to many little things bugged me again such as the character models and atrocious animation on them but its a fun game nonetheless its just I would rather play other fighters I found (only so much time).

Anyway check out that site once you have settled on a character it should help you a lot.
