Something to ponder:

Shadow of the Colossus is a decent game name. HOWEVER, it could also be a name for a pornographic film featuring well endowed individuals.

For worst, I have to vote for either this:

or World of Zoo. It's not even affiliated with the makers of World of Goo in the least. (sorry though, no picture for that one)

Killer Instinct. Sure, it's very late eighties, early ninties, but it's still a cool name

The Bad: Awesome Possum and Aero the AcroBat. Weak rhymes and cutsey puns make me sad.

The Good: Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, a title that creates awesome mental images of chicks with swords wearing next to nothin'. Too bad the game sucked.

Halo. Dumb name. Yeah, I went there.
ooohhhh. Edgy AND Original!! How Clever of you!*

Honestly I think that Metal Gear Solid and Donkey Kong are really odd names. I Like the Donkey Kong Country series but really, DONKEY Kong?
ooh edgy AND original indeed

try that attitude in the real world, and you will meet great success in life

anyway on topic...lolll
I never understood "DONKEY Kong"...it seems silly but I guess when you're a giant gorilla throwing barrels no one's gonna say anything about it

honestly many titles these days I don't think are by any definition outright BAD (if anything, adjectives such as tacky, generic, silly, egregious, pompous, oxidizing...are more appropriate)

waiiit has anyone discussed any of the "best" game names yet? guess society tends to jump for the negative haha
Apparently with Donkey Kong, the original wording in japanese was monkey/gorilla Kong, but when they tried to translate it over, the accidentally translated to Donkey instead of Gorilla/monkey...... (Kong being said gorilla's name) Hence: Donkey Kong is probably supposed to be Gorilla Kong, but someone screwed up.
hahaha well I suppose a lot does get lost in translation...

I outta look into the history of these characters more hmmm

Wait! I almost forgot!

Final Fantasy 10 2

I win!
You lose.

First direct sequel to FF. It was a supplement to X and did not need to be the next main numbered game. When you think about it. X-2 Can be read as: ten part 2. As in the next part of the same story. I think I'm one of the < 1% of FF fans that actually liked X-2 due to the reusing of Spira and a continuation of the story of X which was definitely a plus. Plus I fell for Yuna...ahem...

If it was called FFXI then a little more outrage would have been heard for making the game a main part of the numbered series. Also, we would be staring at FFXV if it was part of the main series.

I understood the numbering after about five seconds of reading the back of the box. And staring at Yuna's ass *cough*

Glad to be of help.
Wow, that was pretty patronising.

I didn't say it had to be the next numbered game, or that chronologically it was somehow mistaken - I just thought the first time I read aloud the game's title when I picked it up "Final Fantasy Ten Two"... it sounded a little odd.

Glad to be of help.

Final Fantasy versus XIII. How the hell can you verse a number? Crazy SQUENIX.

Best? Hmm... Probably to put it the way Yahtzee put it, Clive Barker's Clive Barker's Jericho by Clive Barker.
They're actually just pitting Final Fantasy versus Thirteen from House, and possibly Red XIII from the first game. That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

Seriously, though, the worst game name ever is Irritating Stick. There's no two ways about it.

At least it's Donkey Kong and what the developer was going to name it: Stubborn Gorilla. Yeah, the developer is Japanese.
