Best/Worst valued game you've bought?

Best was probably Just Cause 2 for under $10. Most fun I've had messing around in a game since Red Faction Guerrilla.

Worst was easily Crysis 2. Bought it new because I figured that it needed the online pass like EVERY OTHER EA GAME (which it didn't). Turns out the game was utter shit and I was unable to return because Gamestop was being Gamestop.

Best: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - bought it for 99p on ebay and I've played it to completion like i did 10 years ago before i lost the disc

Worst: Black Ops - How Activision made $1 billion in 3 weeks from it is just astronomical. Beat the campaign and it's gathering dust in my bookcase.

Best: Red Alert 1 with Aftermath (skirmish ftw!) bought for ?20.-.

Worst: Mass Effect 1. After getting clusterfucked for the 101th time and tremendous stupid ai I was fed up.

Best, meaning most hours? Fallout 3, I've spent over 100 hours on that game, just enjoying how the world is and all for £10. Best, meaning favourite? Shadow of the Colossus! £5.

Worst, meaning least hours? Final Fantasy XIII, I spent a good old 10 hours on that game, didn't bother to go past the first disc because I was so embarrassed for how the story and gameplay already was within those measly 10 hours even though I bought it at full price. Considering I like a hell load of Final Fantasy I despise XIII. Worst, meaning least favourite? Oblivion. That buggy piece of unimmersive shit. I spent quite a few hours on that thing and even gave it a tonne of second chances, hoping that I wouldn't step through the floor or watch some character run into a wall, etc. over and over again... But then of course it never ever happened, I never completed it, I never enjoyed it and I spent full price on that aswell... GOTY too!

I guess I'm just going to avoid ever paying for anything on release day again, since they seem to show less and less promise every time.

Bought Fallout 3 GOTY for £12.95. That's my best. Worst? Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for £4.59. I don't know what I was thinking.

Worst would probably have to be Serious Sam HD. Payed 35 quid for it but honestly it just doesn't entertain me the way those kind of games used to. Maybe I'm just growing up... or maybe I'm becoming a boring old fucker way before my time.

Best: Probably Railroad Tycoon 2 Platinum. Spent ~50 hours on it, got it for twenty cents.

Worst: Probably Portal. I've spent about ten hours on it, and dropped $20 on it. Not really a good idea.

I wouldn't think about Portal in terms of hours played, but rather the experience had while playing it.

Portal was such a good, unique, creative game, I would've gladly paid twice what you payed for it and it still would've been MORE than worth it.

Not to mention that in my opinion, portal is the best puzzle game ever made.

Like I said, both of the games I've bought...

Jedi Academy > Thief Gold

Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy was my first Xbox Live game and an AMAZING game. I have so many fond memories of that game it isn't even funny. I will defend that game until the end.

The worst, 9.99 for Crackdown or 15 minutes of my time for Too Human.

Why Crackdown? That game was awesome.

Best would have to be Might and Magic VII for 50p out of a clearance bin. Effin A!

Worst would probably be Fallout New Vegas. On day 1. I swear it was about £45 and I was spending most of my time staring at a bloody loading screen.

Best was probably any Fallout game. Loads of Content, tons of replayability.

Worst? Every game that comes out these days. Yeah, sure..your game could have come out of Mark Twain's nose, flown through space and time, and been hand delivered to me by Master Chief.


Exactly why do I have to pay 60 bucks for a game with the same amount of content that a Gamecube game had? Oh, better graphics? Better tech? Yeah, you'd still make boatloads if you charged 30 bucks for new games, idiots.

Did you know they sell the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3's for less than it costs to make them? The only reason they make any money is because the games cost 60 dollars.
At least that's the way it was when those systems came out. Since then, technology has advanced and those systems have started to cost less and less to produce; in fact, the PS3 is down 70% from its original production cost in 2006.

So, it actually has been rumored that the price of new games for those systems may drop to $40. Since that is a rumor, however, I have no evidence to support it.

Best: Civilization 5(I've put in 440 hours since release last year) awesome game even with all the bugs it has suffered.
Worst: Ghostbusters The Video Game. It looked fun, but it wasn't for me. But atleast I only paid $7.50 for it on steam.

The way I see buying games is that in a "time spent enjoying" to cost ratio, they're better than movies, which you pay nine dollars to get into, and last ninety minutes or so, while with games, you may pay fifty dollars, but you'll get hundreds of hours out of some.
A good example would be Fallout 3, which, until I wiped my saves for HDD space, I had at least one file with 300+ hours in it.

Another game I got at a good value was Chrono Trigger DS for $11. Due to some system error, the company sent me another copy, which they didn't want back.
I plan on giving it to a friend who's a fan of the game along with a cheap DS I got at a yard sale, and don't plan on using.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the best value. Over 200 hours + in that game.

Worst is Duke Nukem Forever. I spent $5 renting it and it was the worse piece of crap I have ever seen and played in my life.

Hitman: Codename 47, Silent Assassin, or Blood Money, I got the 'collection' on a steam sale for around $8.00 CAD.

Any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Games, as they don't work correctly. They take literally half an hour to load ANYTHING, new game, normal load, or 'quick' load. Call of Pripyt just doesn't work.

Back when Gamestop was Software Etc I bought a game called Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero.

It was a side scrolling platforming beat-em-up that still holds the record for being the only game that I've ever traded in.

As for the best game?

Super Metroid. I still dust off my SNES and play through that game at least once or twice a year.

Hard to keep track of them all, given the crazy-go-nuts deals you can get on Steam during Christmass and the July sale, but these two stick out in my mind.


Best Valued Game: Recettear - 5$. Enjoyable and creative little JRPG shop keeping game that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys old school JRPG games. It cost me five dollars when it was on sale on Steam

Worst Valued Game: Medal of Honor 2010 - 60$: A half assed COD-clone that had extremely poorly balanced multiplayer. I mean, I normally snipe in games a lot, but I felt like I needed a shower after playing MOH as a sniper with how broken easy it was to snipe on defense. The single player took all of 4 hours, and I don't think anybody is playing multiplayer anymore.


Frankly, Recettear deserved my 60$ and Medal of Honor was worth 5 bucks at best given the values and play time I got out of each game.

Best: KotOR 1 and 2. Spent maybe 20 bucks combined, and got over 350 hours between the two games.

Worst: Fable 3. I loved the first one, but was let down with the second one. I heard the 3rd was supposed to be a lot better, so got it the week it came out. After about 2 hours of playing, I was just not intrested and ended up returning it.
